Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I need to take her in. This just can't be happening. Me and Myranda have prayed. This can't be. I'm so sorry. We're here.

You mean rhododendron? The way you do that is to bury the stem of a low-hanging branch and wait for it to root before you cut it from the main plant. Interesing. That's what I do for my rosemary. I know it's a good method to use on many plants but the only comprehensive list I have of the different propagation techniques and what they work on is for herbs. I've been seaching for a source for things this particular author didn't consider herbs. I like the presentation of this documentation it just doesn't include enough plants to suit me.
Of course, then I start experimenting and then I get a high kill rate. And yet, that's why I told Corin that this is such a fun hobby. You don't get arrested for mutilation of plants or planticide!

yep, every day I check in on the east coast lunch time and the drive time home. So, then there's lists of posts with only wneighbor all lined up one after the other. That's okay though, I'm comfortable with this. When I'm here at home I talk to myself ALL the time.
"now where did i leave my teacup?" "okay, here's the tea, now what did i do with those papers i have to grade?"

Well, Zulu and I both appreciate the cheers for her at-first apparent victory over death,
but she did lose. More of the drug got into her than we realized. She began to get wobbly, and then I realized she couldn't stand and within minutes she couldn't even stay awake. By the time I got her to my regular clinic, she was passed out cold. My regular clinic finished the job a while ago, and I am just waiting now, Dad said he would come down and help me bury her. Sorry for the "she dying, no she's alive, no she is still dying" Shenanigans.
This is a day I will not soon forget.
Sorry about all that Zulu, rest in peace now, and forgive us our screw ups.
Dad's here, back later.

She did get some of the drug.Oh no. I wish I had something nice and comforting to say, but I don't. Just know that we're all here for you, friend.

This is a day I will not soon forget. Well, you did tell us that Zulu was a drama queen! Looks like she got her last curtain call before she made her exit!
We're all thinking of you, and praying for you!
To: HairOfTheDog
Oh, Hair... I'm sorry to hear about Zulu. She was such a sweet girl - I feel like I'd met her myself.

God Bless both you and Zulu. I just read this after taking a "healing" (from this nasty cold) nap with one of my dogs, I think I'll go back and curl up with him again now.
Take care.
To: HairOfTheDog
You know what? I'm really glad and honored that I one of the ones here that gets this very personal trusted part of you life shared. Grammar in that didn't make sense. But, heart part did.
To: HairOfTheDog
Oh Hair! What an experience.
Bless your heart.

Hi WN, what's new with you? I haven't killed my grandmother yet, but if she doesn't leave soon... I have bad nights and then oversleep because no one in the house is up. And now I have this nasty final assignment and no way to do it if she doesn't leave me alone to use my computer.

Hey Corin,
I was over reading the Harry Potter thread and I saw you there... you like Harry Potter? I'd forgotten that.
My sibs are already planning their costumes for the Borders midnight party. I always read the new book allowed the next day. Does that make me evil?

And now I have this nasty final assignment and no way to do it if she doesn't leave me alone to use my computer. Okay, the mother and the teacher in me has something to say about this one. Your assignments are totally off-limits with your grandmother messing them up. Ideally, we should all have personal time as well that is off-limits to disturbances but when it comes to school work! That is totally wrong! Someone else in your house should step in and help you with this one because this is a priority. This is your future (hear anthem begin to play now) What kind of woman will you turn out to be if (dum dum de de dum) you are not allowed the PRIORITY of getting your school work done! (Big orchestral finish)

PS remember i'm not musically inclined so if that music didn't exactly go along with the text we better let 2J and OT in on it.
To: Wneighbor
Okay, time to go to church now. Be back again later as soon as ya'll all turn away from the computers. (i'm just a sneak really.)
To: Wneighbor
We're all suffering, but it does hit me hard... I am the sort of person who needs solitude. I need time away from everyone else, especially to work, and right now I cannot get that. It's like being a child again, with no control over my life.
With what we've gone over in class tonight, I think the assignment will only take between 2 and 5 hours. I can do that, I think. I can bar the door and turn on very loud music for that amount of time...
Sigh. My mother is very sympathetic, but she's not yet to the point of yelling and screaming at my grandmother, and I fear that's what it will take.

Sorry to hear it, Hair. Please don't make it hard on yourself. Zulu would never want that.
To: JenB
Well, you have our sympathies. And hopefully you can get this thing out tonight.
I'm with you on the solitude part. If I don't get it I become someone no one wants to be around.
Myranda and I are very blessed in that both of us are of the same temperament in that way. Therefore, neither of us gets our feelings hurt when the other just comes home and goes to her room. Yesterday we spend about 4 hours on opposite ends of the couch reading and never said anything to each other. And we liked it. That was our "together time." ha ha

I forgot to mention...I made the cookies! Took to them to the ladies in the post office, all still warm! They shared them with the guys at the front desk (the post office is in the back of an Ace Hardware). Those guys always let me use their shopping carts to bring in the packages, so I was glad they shared.
They were absolutely delighted! Couldn't believe it when I came in carrying that big platter of cookies (along with the two care packages.)
