The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!
Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I think it would be cool to use the same real Frodo, and have everyone sign the back with where he has been. I would want him back at the end, worse for wear probably, but full of memories of adventures.

2JM; thanks very much for posting the story, it helps bring us all closer, they are all heroes.

Good evening!
Class was ok. Day was ok. Your Frodo journey idea sounds cool - reminds me of a book I read when I was little called "Paddle-to-the-Sea", about a wooden Indian in a canoe that floated down through the Great Lakes to the sea.
I came home to find drumsticks on my bed, my clothes in heaps, and a television on my chair. Um.... that's little brothers for you.

2JM & Hair: Wow, you guys make an awesome partnership. Excellent job, thanks from all of us.

Thank you, but this was a group effort with 2J in the lead! - I am just pleased to have been a part of it!
Bear - those stickers are really cool. Long after this war I hope someone comes on and says.. "Hey... I have a book here that had this website on a sticker in the cover"... I wonder where the book will have been by then!

Wow, you folks have been chatty today.
My mom's vertebroplasty went well, although we spent six hours at the hospital for a one-hour procedure. Six hours away from Fox News and FR. I'm just trying to get caught up now.
I'm seeing pictures of American and British troops visiting the late Saddam's ex-palaces. Apparently someone stashed all the furniture and other goodies long ago. They will probably be found with Saddam's money and artwork some day soon.
I also noticed we blew up some of his monuments, and had a victory parade down his parade ground. Plus gunned down a bunch of orcs in black pajamas.
All in all, a productive day.

Yes, a pretty productive day indeed! - And as of a few minutes ago... they may have got the man himself! A banner day!

Evening all. We are now printable. I got an HP office jet 6110. Spent more than I'd hoped, but it's pretty cool.
So before I disconnected the old system again tonight, I forwarded all my old email. But it's not here...I'll keep trying.
Wife needs the computer, so I gotta run.
To: 2Jedismom
Thanks for all the work you're doing in shopping and shipping. And those labels really look neat. I'm honored to be associated with you folks.

Your mail should have come right away... are you receiving other mail?

Probably doable, though we might have to explain why we're taking photos! ;-)Well that would be a cool picture; Flat Frodo with the Border Guards! They could pretend they're arresting him! OH NO, MR. FRODO!
To: HairOfTheDog; 2Jedismom
I wonder where the book will have been by then! Now there's a Flat Frodo opportunity! Have everyone who reads the books put their names and hometowns in them somewhere!
Hey 2J, if you haven't sent the books, maybe you could put a note to that effect in there. If you've already sent them, maybe you could send an e-mail to the Chaplain!

What's that burning? I've been freeping for a few minutes and haven't been watching the TV. I've still got to do some sewing on some Poodle skirts for the Girl Scouts before I go to bed, so I was gonna watch some more while doing that.
To: SuziQ
Right after I logged into this, the cameraman (who was standing so close to the snipers that you could see their shells flying in the camera view) got offed. Apparently, he was where he shouldn't have been. The camera panned up just in time to see a (what I think was) a B-1 bomber fly over...I remember thinking "Uh-oh" and then Kablowy!
Abu Dhabi switched to a different feed.
