Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

For those that were interested! One more! (and it isn't HUGE)

Well, lets just say Howard Shore was to do another movie next year, and he re-uses "Concerning Hobbits" in a new movie. Or if he re-used music from one of the many past pieces he has written in a new movie along with some new stuff. He still would have written all of it, but that definately wouldn't be allowed to qualify for the original score award. So they have to figure out a rule for a coordinated series like LoTR... must not have come up before! [shrugs]

It think OT is in the chemical residue business... I don't know why I think that.Close. I'm in the agrochemical business. I test and develop methods for testing crops and soils for chemical residues.

I thought I remembered you were testing dirt one day, but I hate testing my memory!
To: HairOfTheDog
Well that makes sense about using a piece from one movie in an entirely different movie. But that should not apply to something like this. Oh well...we'll see what happens next year.
To: Dawntreader
I think they are trying to figure out the definition of "entirely different movie". I think it is a fair debate, where they may come to the conclusion we want them to come to, but I can see why it came up.

Uh oh, get ready for TTT to get majorly dumped on by the AcademyOh good! That means I still have good taste.

Wow... that picture is something else.

I thought I remembered you were testing dirt one dayYes, that's right. That project was where they treated a test plot with a fungicide and then took dirt samples from different depths and at different times so we could see how long it stayed in the ground and how far down it would go.

What are the updates on your local news about the explosion plant? They know how bad it is or what caused it yet?
To: HairOfTheDog
Hi all. I had a really bad day, not interested in thinking about it now, and all I want is for it to be over. But I have class, and then my group has to watch "Godspell", before I can even go home.... agh.
On the bright side... I have some lovely cookies that just showed up! Yum!

I don't think they know what happened yet. They're saying it's not a plane, and the fire is in the warehouse. But then...my new 'puter speakers came in this afternoon so I've been playing with them. *sheepish grin*. I believe it's 8 dead and some people still missing.
I should probably check out the live thread.
To: JenB
I am sorry you had a bad day!
Here: have some posies!
To: Overtaxed
I have to go clean stalls and then run an errand.... back in a bit!
To: Overtaxed
Fire is still burning...not sure how many fatalities...haven't accounted for everyone yet....structure integrity doubtful.
To: Overtaxed
Yeah, what was that? What happened to cause the explosion?

So I take it the future Star Wars and Harry Potter movie soundtracks won't be nominated either? That "reused theme music rule" is one I have not heard before. The last time John Williams was nominated for a sequel was for Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (he got nominations for all three scores). So the rule, if it exists must have been instituted in the last decade. Neither the Star Wars prequels or Harry Potter 2 were nominated in the score category, so it may be true. I'll have to look into this.
To: HairOfTheDog
Or if he re-used music from one of the many past pieces he has written in a new movie along with some new stuff. In other words, James Horner won't get any more nominations until he starts writing original music again. LOL

then didn't tell anyone about it until he sobered up. He didn't even TELL anyone then; the authorities came and got HIM because it was his car. There was an interesting show on A&E a few years ago with another view to what may have happened. Teddy had been seen driving the car earlier in the night with Mary Jo beside him. The same cop who saw him earlier, later saw the car go roaring down the road with Mary Jo at the wheel and he couldn't see anyone else in the car. A little later, about 2 am, a couple coming in to their hotel saw Teddy coming in at the same time, soaking wet. The next morning, he was up talking to someone, when one of his aides came up to him, whispered in his ear (presumably that they'd found his car with her in it), and Teddy turned white as a ghost. It is surmised that they had a fight, he got out of his car, and left her to drive it, drunk, on the (to her) unfamiliar roads of the island, back to the party they had attended. He later claimed that he had left her on the island, and swam to the mainland because the ferry has stopped running for the night. She may have just roared over the bridge and lost control. Even with this scenario, I still consider him responsible for her death for leaving her alone in that drunken state to drive herself back to the party.
Oh, and Teddy is from the state we're living in now, MA. He wouldn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of getting elected in my HOME state of MS. They may also elect stupid people to the Senate, like Trent Lott, but they're CONSERVATIVE stupid people!
