Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I'm off for a while...probably 6pm your time. See you later!
To: HairOfTheDog
Yeah, I saw them both before they were pulled and he kind of had me going for a little bit, at least curious, but there was that strong odor about it too. Looks like the Admin threw out the trash... ;^)

Ted is not exactly a person you'd want your kids to look up to. I suppose he is the only senator that drunkenly drowned a girl he was cheating on his wife with and then didn't tell anyone about it until he sobered up.
That the people of MS keep on electing the guy is creepy.

I just noticed at the official site, that have that pic of Frodo holding up the phial of Galadriel in Shelob's lair...the main picture on the first page.
Might not be the same for you...I think it changes periodically...
I guess they gave up and figured "Well, everyone's seen it...let's post it!"

Have a safe journey, Corin!
I've got to run home now too, so I'll hopefully be back tonight.
On a happy note, I just got a raise! :)

Apparently SOME of the men of Gondor do wear skivvies. And there is a buck to be made in Gondorian skivvies.
Sean's Pants For Auction
1/29/03, 1:27 pm EST - Xoanon
And we're talking the UK version of 'pants', as in, underpants...boxers..draws..undies..you get the idea. Greylady writes: Sean Bean and several other British celebs have signed various pieces of undergarments which are now up for auction to help the Bristol Cancer Help Center. The auctions lasts until Feb. 14. The auction is in UK pounds and you have to call a British telephone number to place a bid. At last view, Sean's knickers were going for L120, the third highest bid. Nowhere is it indicated that Sean has actually worn these. [More]

Uh oh, get ready for TTT to get majorly dumped on by the Academy, if
this is any indication......
Oscar Snubs 'Two Towers' In Makeup Voting Only 2 Films Are Finalists For Nods
Posted: 12:23 p.m. EST January 29, 2003
Updated: 1:02 p.m. EST January 29, 2003 Apparently the makeup work for "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers," "Men in Black 2," or "The Hours" weren't enough to impress the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2002.
Only two films -- "The Time Machine" and "Frida" -- have been selected by the Academy's makeup awards committee as finalists for the Best Makeup Oscar nominations.
The artisans behind the "Lord of the Rings" and "Men in Black" films have been honored before. The Best Makeup Oscar went to "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" last year, while the original "Men in Black" won the statuette in 1998.
"The Hours" appeared to be a shoo-in with its acclaimed transformation -- nose and all -- of star Nicole Kidman into famed author Virginia Woolf.
According to the Hollywood Reporter online, the acting chairman of the committee, Leonard Engleman, said he thinks "everybody was surprised" to hear the scant field of finalists that emerged from the preliminary vote.
"But what we have to remember is we're only looking for one -- that one outstanding film," Engleman told the Reporter.
The committee is allowed to make up to seven pre-nominations. It will decide the nominations Feb. 8.

Click here for another cool Deagol & Smeagol pic. (Towards the bottom.) I don't think that one's been posted here before.

""But what we have to remember is we're only looking for one -- that one outstanding film," Engleman told the Reporter."And that would be The Two Towers, you morons! Is it because it's been honored before? Big deal! If it's the best one (which it is) then honor it! Geez!
To: Dawntreader
I thought the Uruk make-up in TTT was much better than in FOTR. Then again FOTR only had one major Uruk player, while TTT has a bunch.

Very, very cool, DT! That other one of Gollum is a new one too! Looks like it's as Smeagol is becoming more Gollum-like....
I'm glad they are going to cover that, but I'm a little perplexed as to why they are waiting until the third movie to do so....
To: ksen
Yeah, I thought they looked better in TTT too.
I'm really confused by this. I just can't believe they wouldn't be nominated for this category. Does that mean Shore won't be nominated again, because he won already?
