This is our own corner of Free Republic where homeschoolers can discuss what curriculum we use, vent when needed, share our successes, compare notes, alert each other to things we find on the internet, and vent some more.

Powder..Patch..Ball FIRE!

We went outside at approx 4:30 am and saw a regular parade of shooting stars. Most we saw at one time was 5. Quite a few left long trails. The moon was very bright, a very clear night with temp at 35 degrees.

Even if I pulled my behind outta bed at that time of the morning, we wouldn't have been able to see it. We are fogged in. There is zero visability in some spots. My high schooler is delayed going to school for the second time in three years.

How 'bout that Leonid shower?

Yeah. How was it?
The children and I looked forward to going over the mountains and watching
the heavenly spectacle, but it was all cloudy and rainy everywhere.
Tonite, there's a lunar eclipse.
Same weather forecast though.
Bummer.

Amazing!! I counted exactly 50 between 4:10 and 4:45 A.M. Saw most of them toward Orion and a few near the Big Dipper.

My youngest didn't stay out as long as I did because he was too cold, but he counted 28. My oldest refused to get out of bed. He really missed out. Gonna have to check out the eclipse tonight.

Good morning, ladies. I just have a general question. Have any of you used Curriculum Services? I'm about to invest, but I'd like to hear from someone who has actually used it.

https://www.curriculumservices.com/

Thanks

For a most excellent software package that will help teach astronomy in a fascinating way, try this:

Starry Night.

I do not work for them. I have had it for years now and I am always amazed at how complete and entertaining it is.
