NEWS Channel 5 has pictures and video HERE
To: Species8472
Prayers for all involved Species. Take care. You've had a rough 2 weeks or so.
Thanks, RS. Will check the local news this evening, too. There were also helicopters flying over head...some news, some police related, I guess.

Must be a Friday afternoon in August and everyone is away or resting..... Have a great week-end y'all!

Okay, something weird is going on; I corrected my 2 spelling errors before posting my last post but.......Sure. Yea. Right. Whatever you say.........
It's almost football anyway, but I do need something to watch in between games.... I guess I'll start following Anna Kournikova in tennis....

Thanks for the report, M., heard of that horrid situation on the radio.
Dog, cannot access Quinn, have to stick to local talk radio for the time being. Access forthcoming, though!
All, talked to bossman who said for me to think over the weekend whether I might want to take over the forklift operator position. Oh, gee, let me think about that one for a few milliseconds...like I need to ponder THAT? SOLD! Forklift operator, one each. Gotta be a good skill to have in the old repertoire, eh? Well, I gotta go hit the bank in a legal way. Will see ya all next week!
PS, prayers up for DJ's dad.

Of course that appeals to you! What man could resist a forklift? LOL!
When #1 son worked at the nearby garden center, after a couple of years he was allowed to start driving the small forklift they have to lift pallets, etc.
Was he happy?? You bet!
See you next week.
HOB - Have a great weekend yourself!...
Have a good evening everyone. Have to get organized for the weekend trip.

It is so bad when we bury one of the men in blue, they do so much for us, day and night and we never hear of what all they do. My heart goes out to his family and my God give them comfort.

15 years ago my sister-in-law's (brother's wife) was gunned down by a loser in a neighborhood disturbance. He ws hit with a shotguun blast in the chest...lived a week. He was 24 years old.
My sister-in-law had nearly raised him because he was a surprise baby and her mother needed to continue working. His death nearly drove her crazy, I believe it cut her father's life short, and it traumatized the entire family. I rode in the funeral procession in Indianapolis with my family. It was incredibly sad. I will never forget an old man standing by the road holding his hat over his heart as we passed across the river, heading from the funeral home to the police headquarters.
His murderer got off with manslaughter. He walks the streets a free man today.
So, when I heard those nit-wits bragging about constitutionalism, I cannot stand it. God bless Officer Taylor and his family.

Think I will be about for a few and put on a big ole pan of cornbread (without sugar). See ya later.

They let us go for the afternoon from work! So I went online to spend money, what a worthwhile pursuit. :) So I went to Keepsake Quilting online. Do not do this. They have the greatest Christmas fabric, I can't believe it is August and 90 degrees out, and I'm sitting here planning Christmas. This is the quilt/wallhanging I hope to have finished for this Christmas.
To: Utah Girl
NO! I am NOT going to any more craft sites! No!
I have enough projects I will be busy until 2010!!
Very pretty quilt! I would love to have something like that to hang in the rec room downstairs....NO! NO!
Going to start the dishwasher! LOL!

About 7-8 years ago I worked at a packaging company. We made boxes for Procter and Gamble and Lever Brothers. Because we had to move and stack pallets of stock, it was mandatory to be forklift certified. If I can do it....no doubt in mind..none whatsoever....talented sir..you can do it.

DJ, prayers for your dad. It seems to extra tough when you don't know enough to stop worrying and your mind starts flying off into the "what-if" directions. Keep your mind stayed on God and know that nothing can or will happen that He doesn't allow and know how to handle.
I was called by the local high school again today and agreed to go in to translate for those two Chinese teenagers who speak no English. They had been looking at a Chinese porn site in one of their classes so I had to explain some of the rules. I keep forgetting words I used to know so my translation is very halting and I feel like an idiot, but in the eyes of the school officials and teachers who cannot communicate hardly at all with these two, I am like a magician.

LOL! You read my mind as I was looking. I actually started the quilt last February as a block of the month. They send one block a month, and I have managed to finish each block each month. It is amazing. I too will never want for lack of projects. :)

Did you hear about the new African-American chief of police in San Francisco and the "racist" gift he was given? Someone who spoke almost no English delivered 3 watermelons to him and suddenly there were explosions of "Racism!!!" Someone had insulted the new chief in the worst way possible by having these watermelons sent to him.
Turns out they were a gift from a Vietnamese woman who genuinely wanted to thank him. Following her own cultural cues she sent fruit to the chief. Read about it here.
