We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail! [President Bush]
Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
WorldCom announced they will decide within the next three weeks whether they have to file for bankruptcy protection. Analysts seem to think it is a foregone conclusion. It would be the largest such filing in US history, doubling the size of the Enron folding.
An Al Qa'eda audio tape has a spokesperson assuring the world The Evil One and Mullah Omar are alive and well.
A group of parents in Oakland, CA, are suing the school district for violation of the Establishment Clause. No, this time it is not Christianity that is at question. The action focuses on what has popped up in the news of late about certain practices in public schools in Kantafordia. According to The Washington Times, the parents filed suit because the schools, after September 11, "encouraged students to wear Muslim robes, adopt Islamic names, and stage make-believe pilgrimages to Mecca to learn about the faith."
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
George Will is an excellent suggestion for MLB commish. Although, if selected, he won't last long among all the meglomaniacs and egotists. I wish Jimmy Carter could be forced on them.

Good to see you here.

Yes, actually we did. I'm not sure how much, but it rained steadily for at least an hour. It had a wonderful effect on the air here.
I spent most of the morning outside doing yard work, trimming, weeding, and just enjoying the day! Our windows are wide open! (The grass looks better too!)
How did it miss you?!
Thanks for remembering that..
Have fun with your little guy.
It sounds very fortunate that I missed the singer last night destroy our National Anthem..
Mandatory screening for anyone performing at such functions!! LOL! (I'm only half joking!)
Have to go finish my kitchen floor...Hello Mike.
Has any other MLB game ended in a tie?
Sometimes I think I transport between parallel universes.

That is perfectly understandable.
Yes. Another All-Star Game, in 1961.
But that one, at least, was called on account of the weather. It started raining, and the score was tied.

Thanks Molly, you beat the Chair. I just read his post first. I knew one of you on my ping list would know the answer.

SALT LAKE CITY Elizabeth Smart's father is desperately hoping that an unsigned letter he received in the mail on Tuesday may help lead to the safe recovery of his kidnapped 14-year-old daughter Elizabeth.Smart said Wednesday that he suspects the letter may have come from someone with knowledge of his daughter's June 5 disappearance.
But he also said he could not say whether the letter was credible. It lacked any solid information that would indicate it came from a person with specific information about his daughter, Smart said.
"I received a letter, and basically the letter was written by another person on behalf of the abductor," he said. "I really don't know how credible it is.
"I want to be able to hear from him, to tell me, what is it he wants? Why? I truly do not know that.
"I'm just anxious to do whatever it's going to take to get her back," Smart said at a news conference.
He said police have a copy of the letter.
Tom Smart, Ed Smart's brother, said the family has received "thousands" of letters since Elizabeth disappeared. But Ed Smart said this one was the first that seemed to be from someone willing to negotiate.
"It was from a person they had talked to the abductor," he said, and it indicated the abductor was looking for a safe way to resolve the kidnapping.
The unsigned, typewritten letter postmarked July 3 bore no return address. Ed Smart said the police received a faxed copy before he received the original letter. He would not say whether the letter was mailed to his home.
Police have "absolutely nothing" to do with his decision to disclose it publicly, Smart said.
I just hope it isn't someone trying to scam them out of some money and add to their pain and suffering ..... there are some really crummy people in the world ..... *sigh*

Just getting to the local paper, and Akron may have its OWN tree sitter!!
Yes indeed!
It seems the 150 yr. old white ash about 5 min. from me may be cut down!
Cut down because it's disrupting the sidewalk, and wheelchair access ramps are being installed city-wide...
I go by this fantastic tree several times a week, and may join the woman who says she will tie her self to the tree to stop the ax!! The tree is in front of her property.
I support her!!!
Tree Lovers Unite!!
Success. Glad you liked it. :-)
I was going to say something, but I didn't.
