Hegseth Mounts Aggressive Campaign to Fight Pending Impeachment

Congressional critics warn a defiant defense secretary could imperil military funding

WASHINGTON—With a vote on his impeachment looming next week, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is digging in his heels and vowing to stay at his Pentagon post for the rest of the Trump administration.

Hegseth has reassured his allies that he is not angling for Marsha Blackburn’s Tennessee seat in a Senate that will now be controlled by Democrats, Pentagon officials said.

If his congressional opponents vote to impeach him, Hegseth will seek to use the confrontation as a platform to aggressively defend his agenda, which includes the war with Iran, the ouster of senior military officers and rolling back past diversity policies.

“He’s not going anywhere,” said Tim Parlatore, a special adviser to Hegseth. “He intends to serve the full four years.”

The embattled defense secretary’s defiant stance has set the stage for a bruising clash with lawmakers frustrated over the stalemated conflict with Tehran. Even Republican lawmakers who have backed Trump on the Iran war are voicing serious misgivings about Hegseth.

“I can tell you that there’s a lot of questions about Hegseth,” Rep. James Comer, the Kentucky Republican who chairs the House Oversight Committee, said in an appearance on NewsNation. “We have no idea what the strategy is moving forward on Iran.”

While more lawmakers would like to see Hegseth depart the Pentagon, his place within the Trump administration appeared to be more secure late Friday when Trump announced that Stephen Miller would be his next chief of staff.

Hegseth has long aligned himself with Miller, favoring the expanded use of the military to secure the southern border and strike suspected drug smugglers.

Within minutes of Miller’s appointment, Hegseth posted “Patriots in control” on his personal social-media account and...

The one hope the US has, at this point, is that Hegseth purged the military Obama/Biden perverts in the flag ranks

Since when are cabinet positions impeachable?

Where does it say that in the Constitution?

I think we should all know, and hopefully they will talk about that, impeachment is for treason , bribery and high crimes and misdemeanors.

I know Hegseth is a controversial figure , but just because the liberals don’t like him , that does not make a basis for impeachment. What particular crimes would they allege that he has committed as secretary of defense?

Article II Section 4

That only applies to "the President." The Constitution is a limiting document. If it doesn't mention cabinet officers specifically as subject to impeachment and removal, then the Congress doesn't have that power.

You mean you didn’t know that it’s a “high crime” to do something contrary to the delicate sensibilities of those politicians who believe themselves to be above the public whom they are supposed to serve??? /s

Maybe he drinks Cherry Pepsi rather than Coke?

Whatever reasoning they use is irrelevant. It’s standard fare when someone is targeted for being effective at their job (i.e. they don’t ‘work with’ the other side -Read: take bribes). Dems got paid lots of money by IRN to not enforce sanctions and block military action against them. The IRNs will pay literally anyone to acquire support. It’s how the rest of the world works.

“Of course TRAITORS want him out.”

I suspect Obama’s Muslim allies want him out.

““We have no idea what the strategy is moving forward on Iran.”

Do what you can when you can.

Obviously, detailed plans need to be kept secret.

I agree with you what high crimes and misdemeanors has Pete Hegseth committed ??

Political differences should not be a reason to impeach someone, but it’s the political environment we live in.

I think it takes 67 votes in the Senate to convict during an impeachment trial.

Currently, the Democrats have 54 votes, it’s not impossible to think 13 Republicans would join the Democrats and impeach Hegseth, and it might not stop with him.

If the Democrats are successful in impeaching Hegseth, others will be in Democratic Crosshairs including Trump himself.

I was talking to a friend the other day who is a retired Air Force LTC and a Republican. He thinks Hegseth should resign because he doesn’t think he is doing a good job running his department.

Secretary of War Hegseth performed 3 extra-ordinary leadership tasks.

(1) Demolition of under-mountain nuclear infrastructure in Iran. It required coordination of several in the air refueling of stealth bombers, keeping departure of of stealth bombers leak-proof, precision dropping of massive guided bombs and safe return of those ultra-effectiv3e bombers back to their bases in USA.

(2) Amazing raid to capture well guarded dictator Maduro without a single casualty. Maduro was captured alive and flown back to US to face prosecution.

(3) Most spectacular leadership by Hegseth along with general Caine was how quickly Iran’s entire navy fleet (130 odd warships) was sunk, and every air force fighter craft and bomber in Iran was obliterated. I think this is a new world record.

To add to above spectacular results, the US military has shed DEI, and military personnel are required to pass fitness standards.

He thinks Hegseth should resign because he doesn’t think he is doing a good job running his department.

Did he say why? Can you come up with some reasons for your "friend?"

DoW is currently run 100 times better than during the autopen years.

DIE was eliminated, along with the endless monthly cultural celebrations and wasteful sensitivity/diversity training. Hegseth reminded the services that they are warfighting units, not a social engineering NGO.
