U.S. and Israel have discussed phasing out grants, but president’s comments suggest it could occur much faster than expected
WASHINGTON—President Trump said Tuesday that the U.S. would cut off military aid to Israel by the end of the year, suggesting the phaseout of grants to the U.S. ally could occur much faster than expected.
“We won’t be paying anymore to Israel,” Trump said during an interview with Fox News on Election Day. “We’ve already agreed that by the end of this year, we won’t be paying Israel.”
The phasing out of direct U.S. military aid to Israel has been under discussion for months, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly saying the country should eventually wean itself off U.S. assistance. Netanyahu had previously proposed eliminating direct military aid over the next decade.
The White House and an Israeli government spokesperson didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
“As far as paying Israel, Bibi Netanyahu and I have made a deal that we give Israel $4 billion a year and we made a deal months ago that we’re stopping and they’re fine with it,” Trump said. “They’ve become a very successful country. They don’t need it.”
According to the Congressional Research Service, the U.S. has provided Israel with about $174 billion in military assistance and funding through May 2025.
Trump cast the decision as a political calculation, arguing that ending the aid would deprive Democrats and other critics of Israel of a political talking point. “Why should we suffer the slings from lunatics like El-Sayed when they don’t need it? It’s a bad talking point,” he said, referring to Abdul El-Sayed, Michigan’s Democratic Senate nominee. “The left uses the $4 billion payment…as a...”

Fine. Now do the rest of the world.
Foreign aid disproportionately hurts Israel.
Israel uses expensive surgically precise weapons. Hamas uses dirt cheap suicide bombs — also funded by the US.
Foreign aid worldwide mostly funds warlords and Democrat kickbacks.
Then there's the cost of the U.S. intercepting missiles every time Israel decides to go to war.
And the cost of the wars we fight for Israel.
I don't expect any of that to stop.
Next you will tell us that Trump is actually a deep cover Mossad agent.

This can’t be, you told me that Israel controls the US.
HAHAHA I am LMAO. Very good reply !!
Pitting Muslim Democrats against Jewish Democrats.
Israel mentioned this before that they were moving away from taking money so it’s not that much of a surprise (though sooner than I expected).
They're just camouflaging the funding by integrating the Israeli military with the US military.

This issue has ALWAYS been a distraction. It has always been about stoping the vermin left.
This doesn’t mean what you think it means.
The Republicans just passed Section 219 of the NDAA. They don’t need our money any more.
And now that we don’t have these types of monetary or weapons transfers, they are free to do whatever they want to their neighbors without us threatening to withdraw funding.
Next up Turkey.

I pointed that out in later posts in this thread.
I’m not going to argue your concern isn’t real, but probably massively overblown. Two things though:
1. you ought to have checked your spelling before posting it: “...is sitting on camouflages funding...”
2. The sources CHATGPT used to flesh out your concern are the Simson Center, J Street, and PolitiFact. The staff of every one of these organizations will be voting for Rashida Tlaib, Mohammed El-Sayed, Ilhan Omar, or their equivalents in whatever district they vote in. I wouldn’t believe a damned thing a single one of them said if they were just telling me the temperature outside. Don’t believe me - look up the Boards yourself. Here’s the Stimson Center to get you started:

That doesn’t mean I don’t share your concern - a little - I just think you’re making a bigger deal out of it than it will actually play out. If they shove a massive amount of funding to Israel through this in the next budget, be sure to point it out to us all.
Yeah, after posting that I read through the other comments and saw yours. Turns out you know exactly what it means.
Didn't need to read further than that. You are not a serious person. You're a smarty-pants child.
We give Egypt more money than Israel, so if we are not going to give money to Israel, fine, but Egypt and other countries need to be cut off too
Camel’s nose under the tent. Everything is alway incremental.
