House Democratic leaders are holding off on deciding whether to punish Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Mich., after she endorsed a Republican in Michigan's Senate race, drawing calls from fellow Democrats for her removal from the party's House caucus.
Stevens endorsed former Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., over Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed, a former public health official, on Nov. 1 — just two days before Tuesday's midterm elections.
The decision prompted sharp criticism from Democrats, including lawmakers who want Stevens expelled from the House Democratic Caucus, but party leaders are waiting until after the elections to address her future.
A senior Democratic aide told Fox News Digital that House Democratic Caucus Chairman Pete Aguilar, D-Calif., would likely support House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., in his response to Stevens' endorsement.
"Haley Stevens made a terrible decision, blindsided everyone and isolated herself from the House Democratic caucus. We will have a discussion about appropriate next steps upon our return," Jeffries told POLITICO.
Spokespeople for Jeffries and Aguilar did not respond to Fox News Digital's requests for comment.
Stevens, a four-term lawmaker, is leaving Congress at the end of the year after narrowly losing Michigan's Democratic Senate primary to El-Sayed.
Since her loss, Stevens has taken a lukewarm approach to supporting El-Sayed’s campaign while also criticizing his approach to Israel and Jewish and Black voters.

This has been one of the most childish election seasons ever. The insanity seems to know no bounds.
She may not care what they do. She might exit politics altogether, or better yet, run as an independent in 2028, and siphon votes away from the DNC. Oh, I'd love to see that!
She is an actual liberal democrat. El Sayed is a muslim colonizer who is using the party to gain power over infidels.
These are the real Nazis. Step out of line and get ostracized. The party before all else.
Happens in both parties. It’s just the way it is.
Give the dims credit at least they deal with traitors
Maybe they will get a bit ahead of themselves and their anticipated ascension to power and sentence her to death. Yall know they’d like to.
“Give the dims credit at least they deal with traitors.”
And they’ve taken Rush’s advice (the only time): “Never ever never ever NEVER give up!”
… Stevens has taken a lukewarm approach to supporting El-Sayed’s campaign while also criticizing his approach to Israel and Jewish and Black voters. …
Lie much, Faux News???
They told her to stay away from any Mohammad Sayed events. She was chased from a park event while being called a Zionist pig.
Did Faux leave that part out??
“They refused to kill the Filibuster and in the process actually saved America from becoming a dictatorship.”
It works both ways though, we cannot get the SAVE Act because of Thune and the filibuster and failure to call a vote. There’s always the repeal of the 17th Amendment but our country will fall into chaos decades if not centuries before that happens.
Big Tent my ass.....
Old serpent-head James Carville compared her to a “used condom”. Such a classy guy.
This is why there is no such thing as an independent Dem rep. They all must follow their orders.
I expected assassination...
Interesting idea. It starts with a one year ambassadorship starting tomorrow. When the year is up resign to run. Her confirmation hearing would be entertaining. Problem is she wouldn’t accept it. A middle east country that outlaws Hamas.
I imagine that idea is still under discussion in certain Democrat circles.
Muslims have openly threatened violence if they do not win the "election".
Democrats were saying that Republican women were like "The Handmaid's Tale", and now they are blasting Stevens for not following the Democrats orders?
