I considered posting “Good Article” five or six times in a row, but decided not to.
+1
I get latency issues, what I don’t get is that it’s been going on for weeks.
And FR isn’t exactly stellar when it comes to communication about what’s going on....unless they’re asking for money.
“Latent” means “hidden”. It doesn’t mean “slow” or “late”. I really hate this barbarous abuse of language.

How do we know it’s not an ongoing DDOS?
Some clarity would help.
It appears you are seeking reasons to hate.
Latent is an adjective describing something that exists, is present, or is dormant—like a hidden talent, a resting virus, or a quiet disease stage—waiting for the right conditions to become active or visible.
Latency is a noun that refers to the state of being latent, or more commonly, the time delay or lag between a cause and an effect (such as the time it takes for data to travel across a network or for a disease to reactivate).
By the way, it is the latency that caused you to post your comment three times.

Your sarcasm is welcome. When we learn to laugh at ourselves we never run out of humor. 😂
You’re talking about a website that still requires html codes.
I like it that way. It allows those, who wish to, to be creative with posting here. It gives FR that particular panache many like.
my guess is database index issues ...
As in Obama’s Latency?
This is the only site on the web I have a problem with. Where exactly is all that money going?
FReepers have not come forward financially and met the FReepathon goals, Chris and John have abandoned the daily posts for donations in Breaking News that their father used to make. In addition, they dialed the quarterly goal way, way back. It was $81,000 last quarter; It's only $60,000 now. Incidentally only $50,700 of the $81,000 goal was met as of midnight on September 30, 1986.
And as we all know, posts and replies here are slow. Very slow. Sometimes posts never get completed and we see a Time Out message. Often, very often, Freepers just keep clicking their mouse which results on 4, 5, even more duplicates posts. Is this a deliberate measure by the Robinsons? Have they scaled back on whatever tech processing servers necessary to keep Free Republic running fast and smooth as it used to.
This post from September 9 is one of many recent posts calling attention to the ongoing daily problems here at Free Republic.
Requests for answers are ignored.
The beatings will continue till morale improves.
Let me help you out. Latent is a word hijacked by illiterate tech bros who wanted an upscale and more sophisticated way to say delayed. They think it mean late. Because they’re ignorant and pompous and not interested in learning.
