Confident People Don’t Do What Democrats Are Doing at the End of the Campaign
Townhall ^ | 11-01-2026 | Derek Hunter

Confidence is an important factor in any election – candidates need to project it, and supporters need to feel it for morale purposes to help them get across the finish line. Democrats had all the confidence in the world a month ago…but it’s not a month ago anymore. In the closing two weeks of the 2026 midterms, Democrats have begun to act like people concerned that they’re going to lose.

In Alaska, Democrats were always worried about losing – it’s Alaska, after all. That’s why they cooked up this stupid “Find another Dan Sullivan” scam to confuse just enough voters to get into the second round of ranked-choice voting.

Democrat Mary Peltola’s campaign sought out another Sullivan – seeking a “white man” to help save a “woman of color” to win a Senate seat. When the Bible of the left, the New York Times, broke the story that the Peltola campaign was not only involved...

In Michigan, you can tell Abdul El-Sayed is worried about the election results by how, despite the polls his campaign has been touting, he’s given up hope of attracting black and Jewish voters.

Democrats in Minnesota are pointing fingers at each other over who is more responsible for the corruption and fraud up there. The Democrat running for Governor in Ohio was supposed to benefit from a Republican campaign ad featuring her estranged mother, but that has materialized, and now she’s showing up to campaign events seemingly hammered. Troy Jackson in Maine seems as nervous as a guest on Maury Povich about to find out he’s the father of kids with his cousin, doesn’t know the difference between Medicare and Medicaid, and has resorted to telling Susan Collins to “shut up.”

The "experts" in the media are gleefully predicting a blue tsunami on Tuesday, but there are more than just a couple of indicators things may not turn out as they hope.

Liberals need to be taken to the woodshed for a long over due visit.

Author Derek Hunter obviously is a big fan of the "No True Scotsman" logical fallacy (even if he doesn't know what it is).

Also apparently a big fan of Aerosmith (”Dream On”).

There are a TON of “tossup” elections for House, Senate, Governor — an enormous proportion of which should not even be that close — and the GOP needs to win a sizable majority of them in order to simply not be slaughtered in 2 days.

If Republicans eke out a few of them (not nearly enough) like, for example, the Kansas Senate race (to pick one which they are more likely to fail) then the post-election mantra will be: “well, it could have been worse”.

In fact, that’s what it is going to be no matter what. The *scope* of the mostly self-inflicted disaster is the only thing which is not yet known.

Best case scenario is that the Rats’ insanity is on full display for the next 2 years at every level they will control, causing GOP voters and anyone with a lick of common sense to be more motivated than ever to vote in 2028. It’s not much, but it’s all we’ve got.

Republican politicians will still suck as much as ever in 2028 and will still be as useless as ever — but at least they won’t be outright Nazis like the controlling faction of the Democrat party.

Confidence or not, the end result will be indistinguishable from chaos. Win, and the whole Code of Federal Regulations is rewritten with contradictory demands put upon the persons whom are directly affected. Lose, and fire and riots in the streets become the order of the day. OBEDIENCE TO THE LAW, EITHER AS WRITTEN OR AS DICTATED, IS REGARDED AS “OPTIONAL”.

In short, we are about to be treated to a sh*tshow unrivaled in the experience of the history of the United States.

“ The “experts” in the media are gleefully predicting a blue tsunami on Tuesday,”

I am a little concerned they were told the fix was in. Let’s pray for a red tsunami.

No matter what the scoreboard, when there’s time on the clock you play every game like you’re two touchdowns behind.

Both of Trump’s victories are more explained by Clinton’s and Harris’s slovenly overconfidence than by any of Trump’s virtues.

Talking about Michigan ... the Dems came into this election on a 10-0 streak (last time they lost a Senate election was more than 30 years ago), and the last time they lost a Senate election in a mid-term with a Republican in the White House was literally 1930.

It’s greatly to their credit that they are taking this one to the wire despite that.

Democrats peaked too early - we'll take the House by two - and the Senate by one.

If the GOP retains the majority in the House, they’ll end up with a greater majority in the Senate than just +1.

I’m sure Obama was not pleased to “help”. There’s nothing in it for him..and that’s the way it is. Now pay the guy who built the dungeon aka...the Obama Library.

Beating the negativity is why I used to listen to Rush while he was alive, and why I read Jeff Childers’ column every day.

And many thanks for doing just that.

I had a disturbing encounter with a FReeper who has been here longer than I have, and it dealt with the “failure” of Dan Bongino in his year-long tenure at the FBI as Deputy Director.

This person said Bongino could have done so much but in the end did nothing but collect a paycheck.

I countered by listing all the accomplishments (which were many) that Bongino achieved in his short-lived role.

But this person came back with a non-sequitur response that indicated nothing I posted changed his opinion, and instead said he was sick of people on FR who supported Trump even when he made blunders or mistakes.

Now, those are two different things, the actual performance of Bongino at the FBI, and the attitude of FReepers who think Trump’s accomplishments far outweigh the occasional intentional boorishness and competitiveness of Trump, which many of us enjoy seeing dished back to people who have tormented and irritated us for decades.

The fact that this otherwise seemingly intelligent would take this hostile stand puzzles me, but there is something about it I see from MANY posters who are allowed to remain on this forum and spit their nonsensical invective.

I value this forum greatly, and I depend on it as an integral link to the pulse of Conservatism nationwide, and it just burns me to see people, almost every single one of the without fail who does not make financial contributions to to this site, come here to leech, slander it and our causes, and tear it down.

Make no mistake-I am fully in support of allowing people to participate on this website if they don’t contribute-and am grateful that many of them do. But I really detest those whose sole task appears to wish to drag Free Republic down and destroy it, not just contribute with differing opinions.

And I refuse to sit back and meekly allow them to have their way.

So, that is why I so appreciated your thread. It makes a difference.
