Ukraine built the Satan nuclear missile, but Russians seem incapable of maintaining the very dangerous missiles. A 200 foot crater in Russia from the explosion of the missile on the ground, would indicate that perhaps the Russians in charge don't know what they're doing.

Ukrainians built it, but Russians seem to be lacking the experience to handle the missiles

Oh look, it’s adorno. How’s that Ukrainian invasion of Crimea you promised me a couple months ago coming along?

Address the topic.

Ukraine doesn’t need to invade what is already theirs, btw. Occupiers does not mean that the Ukrainians ceded Crimea to Russia. Duh!

What about the topic at hand? Don’t digress.

Oh look, it’s adorno.

They're all the same person. They just log on with different accounts to give one of the five constant propaganda themes.

I’d rather have a Russian ballistic missile exploding on the launch pad instead of over Washington D. C.

Well, mostly

There is nothing Ukrainian about it. AI Overview

The RS-28 Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile is manufactured by the Krasnoyarsk Machine-Building Plant (JSC Krasmash) in Krasnoyarsk, Russia.

Other key components and engines are produced by a wider network of Russian enterprises under the state corporation Roscosmos, including:

• Proton-PM (Perm) – manufactures the rocket engines

• FKE Perm Powder Plant (Perm) – supplies specialized powder and solid-charge components

• Designed by the V.P. Makeyev State Rocket Center (JSC GRC Makeyev) in Miass.

FAKE NEWS

Okay so the missile failed during a test in 2024. It was not armed with nuclear material. The following is from GROK.

The event was a catastrophic test failure of an RS-28 Sarmat (NATO: SS-X-29/SS-X-30, media nickname “Satan II”) at the Yubileynaya silo complex at Plesetsk Cosmodrome.Ars Technica

Key verified details

Missile test explosions and catastrophic failures have occurred in multiple countries over the past five years (roughly late 2021 to October 2026). These are relatively common during the development or operational testing of complex systems, particularly liquid-fueled rockets, new hypersonic designs, or solid-fuel programs under rapid development. Failures range from in-flight terminations and mid-air explosions to ground handling accidents involving propellants.

Notable examples (excluding Russia)

United States

North Korea

India

Iran

Broader context

Test failures occur across established nuclear powers (U.S.), emerging programs (North Korea, Iran), and even mature systems undergoing modernization. Causes typically include propulsion anomalies, guidance failures, structural issues, or propellant handling problems. Dramatic ground explosions (like the Russian Sarmat silo event) are rarer but not unprecedented when large liquid-fueled missiles or bulk propellants are involved. Commercial/space rockets (e.g., SpaceX Starship prototypes) have also had high-profile explosions during ground and flight tests in this period, illustrating that the underlying engineering challenges are widespread.

"Ukrainians built it, but Russians seem to be lacking the experience to handle the missiles."

Or Ukraine sabotaged it, like they blew up the Nordstream Pipeline.

60 meters seems too small for “Satan II”.

Ukraine sabotaged it,

Not a bad idea for Ukraine to do stuff like that. It's what wars are about, and infiltration into Russian military assets and destroying them, is to be expected.

like they blew up the Nordstream Pipeline.

I wouldn't blame them if they did blow it up; it was a Russian asset bringing in funding to Russia for the war effort against Ukraine.

But, I suppose you have the indisputable evidence that Ukraine was the one that blew it up. Let's see the evidence.

I also heard that it was the Russians themselves who blew it up, just so they could blame Ukraine and gain propaganda points against them and get sympathetic support, like YOURS.

“208 metric tons of liquid-fueled intercontinental ballistic missile — the RS-28 Sarmat, known to NATO intelligence as “Satan II” — has catastrophically exploded inside its own underground launch silo at the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in northern Russia. High-resolution commercial satellite imagery from Maxar Technologies and Planet Labs, paired with NASA FIRMS thermal anomaly data, reveals that the heavily fortified Yubileynaya launch complex has been completely obliterated, leaving behind a smoking 60-meter-wide crater in the Arkhangelsk forest.

In today’s 20-minute intelligence briefing, we examine the satellite and reconnaissance evidence behind the Plesetsk disaster, the volatile hypergolic fuel chemistry (”Devil’s Venom”) of the 208-ton Sarmat missile, the two forensic failure scenarios (cold-launch mortar failure vs. in-silo fueling detonation), the hidden Ukrainian engineering connection (Yuzhmash in Dnipro) that crippled Moscow’s heavy ICBM program after 2014, and the honest assessment of Russia’s remaining nuclear deterrent.”

I was able to listen to the narrative without being distracted by the images. Sometimes, reading and listening are more than enough to get the crux of the message. Try that.

If this event is factual, likely just the propulsion section exploded and not the warhead itself, which is reassuring.

Your AI Overview, lied to you:

The original Soviet R-36M intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs)—codenamed "Satan" by NATO—were designed and built by Ukrainians.

During the Soviet era, the responsibility for creating the USSR's most powerful liquid-fueled nuclear missiles was placed heavily on facilities located in Soviet Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Origins of the "Satan" Missile

• The Designer: The missile was designed by the Yuzhnoye Design Bureau (now Pivdenne) located in Dnipro, Ukraine.

• The Manufacturer: It was physically manufactured at the adjacent Yuzhmash (now Pivdenmash) rocket plant, also in Dnipro.

• The Expertise: Ukrainian scientists and engineers specialized in complex liquid-fuel rocket technology. For decades after the fall of the Soviet Union, Russia actually contracted Ukrainian engineers from Pivdenmash to service and maintain the active "Satan" missiles remaining in Russia's nuclear arsenal.

The Modern Context: "Satan II" (RS-28 Sarmat)

Following the 2014 illegal annexation of Crimea and the subsequent breakdown of relations, military cooperation between Ukraine and Russia ended. Because Russia no longer had access to Ukrainian maintenance and parts, it was forced to develop a domestic replacement for the aging Ukrainian-made missiles.

This replacement is the RS-28 Sarmat, which Western media often calls "Satan II". Unlike the original, the Satan II is designed by the Makeyev Rocket Design Bureau and manufactured inside Russia.

However, military and intelligence analysts note that cutting ties with Ukrainian rocket experts has severely crippled Russia's strategic missile program. Russia has struggled immensely to master the liquid-fuel technology originally perfected by Ukraine, leading to a string of high-profile, catastrophic test failures of the Sarmat missile.

Nothing fake about the story. The missile did blow up on site, and created a huge crater.

The story/video did not claim that a nuclear warhead was involved, and neither did I. The rest of the story from your GROK query, did not render the story false or fake.
