Agents with U.S. Homeland Security Investigations, a branch of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, searched Omar's home before dawn Oct. 12 under a sealed warrant listing conspiracy, false statements on immigration paperwork, and immigration fraud as potential crimes, a person familiar with the case told Reuters.
Investigators are examining whether Omar or her late father lied about her age when she became a citizen in 2000, CNN reported. As of Thursday, Omar has denied wrongdoing and has not been charged.
Dershowitz said the warrant itself tells a story. Of search warrants, he said, "usually they're issued pretty easily, but not against the sitting congresswoman."
Dershowitz said that a judge’s approval of an early-morning search of her home means “there has to be very substantial evidence beyond just a mere probable cause claim.”
"In a situation like this, often you'll just get a subpoena," he said, referring to a demand to turn over documents. U.S. Magistrate Judge Matthew Sharbaugh approved the search after ordering procedures to shield Omar's legislative records, Reuters reported.
The endgame, Dershowitz said, is denaturalization, the legal process of revoking naturalized citizenship.
"You have to prove fraud," he said, either Omar's own or her father's with her complicity.
He predicted "the beginning of a much deeper search" ending "very, very likely in her denaturalization and deportation," adding that the filing deadlines that cut off old criminal charges do not bind the government here: "statute of limitations that apply in criminal cases don't apply in deportation and denaturalization cases."

If that is the case and the Feds know about it Congresswoman "Sommalier" has a much larger problem and would probably prefer a quick uncontested deportation to her homeland or Kenya followed by quick relocation to a country without an extradition treaty rather than an extended stay in a Federal Penitentiary. Someone familiar with the wine/whiskey industry says these products sometimes require years of aging, so empty containers are sold ahead of time, to be redeemed later.
These fraudsters would be selling the empties now but out of business later, so sorry.
