For ten years now I've had an anonymous name on facebook. Listed two or three rental units where I live without incident. I would use messenger to qualify who I give my address to. Before I started this anonymous approach I had a vehicle with 3 disruptive teenagers just show up at my house, unannounced.
Now. Facebook is flagging my listings and denying me access to renters. They want me to "Verify my identity." If I use my real name, users on internet can find my address real easy. We are over 70 and don't need "trouble" just showing up.
How can I convince facebook to allow me this level of security. Any ideas would be great.

“Is it still available?”
I used Facebook one time to sell a car. Never again.
If you don’t want to leave Facebook, that’s on you.
Maybe Next Door? Nope. I looked. They have the same verification process.
Maybe try a property management company. They will screen your applicants for you AND collect the rent.
Downside? 10% management fee.
here’s what Gemini said to do and not do [you might want to set up a new facebook account for your rentals]:
There are no official, reliable workarounds to pass Facebook’s identity verification while remaining completely anonymous. Because Facebook’s system is automated and highly sophisticated, its primary goal during verification is to ensure your profile name and details exactly match a legitimate government-issued ID. [1, 2, 3, 4]
If your account is already locked and prompting you for an ID, attempting to use fake, altered, or photoshopped documents will almost always result in a permanent account ban or get stuck in an endless verification loop. [2, 5]
However, users looking to maintain privacy or handle research use specific strategies to build and operate pseudonymous accounts without triggering the verification system in the first place. [6]
## How to Maintain a Separate, Anonymous Presence
If you need an account that isn’t tied to your real identity, you must prevent Facebook from linking your new profile to your actual device, location, or existing accounts.
On the tech forum [Multilogin](https://multilogin.com/blog/can-you-browse-facebook-anonymously/), privacy experts outline the standard framework for keeping a separate profile isolated: [6]
1. Use an Isolated Environment: Never create or log into an anonymous profile using your primary browser or personal device. Facebook instantly links accounts via device fingerprints, browser cookies, and local data. Instead, use an anti-detect browser (like Multilogin or AdsPower) or a dedicated cloud phone to create a completely blank device profile. [6]
2. Avoid Standard VPNs: Creating a profile from a datacenter IP or a heavily recycled public VPN block triggers Facebook’s security algorithms immediately, resulting in an instant ID or video selfie prompt. Users rely on high-quality residential proxies that mimic standard home internet connections. [2, 6, 7]
3. Acquire a Clean Phone Number: Facebook heavily enforces phone verification. Do not use VOIP numbers (like Google Voice), as they are easily flagged. Instead, use a temporary SMS verification service or a prepaid SIM card that has never been linked to another Meta account. [6]
4. Mimic Natural Behavior: Brand new accounts that instantly join dozens of groups, send mass friend requests, or aggressively browse Marketplace are flagged as bots. Build activity slowly—post occasionally, like a few public pages, and let the account sit for a few weeks before utilizing it. [1, 6, 7]
5. Stick to Passive Observation: The moment you actively comment, message, or interact with real-world contacts, your anonymity risk increases. If your goal is strictly privacy, use the account to read and observe rather than engage. [6]
To help tailor this advice, could you share:
*
* Are you trying to recover an existing account that is currently locked, or are you trying to set up a new one safely?
* What is your primary use case for this account? (e.g., browsing Marketplace, managing a business page, or casual reading)

What is an "anonymous name"?
Do you mean a FAKE name?
So you're a LIAR and now it's causing you problems?
Why do you lie? What are you covering up?
Someone should look into this obvious fraud.
Is humblegunner your real name?
ok. Sarcasm. My mistake.
10% FEE BEATS A PHYSICAL ATTACK.
Turn it over to a property manager. Yes it will cut into profits, but that’s the trade off.
So I should let any Joe look me up on the internet and terrorize the wife and myself.
There is no reason to publish my true info unless I am entering into a lease with someone. Nobody pays rent unless they see the place anyway.
Once I qualify a potential tenant on Messenger I take it to their cell # and text. That way the address is never exposed.
You sound like a facebook stockholder !!
move toward work of mouth, people you trust.
I would not advertise in public.
Publius is a common ancient Roman first name and the famous pen name used by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay for The Federalist papers.
Likewise there's no reason for Facebook or anyone else to accept your fake identity.
You lied, deal with it.
BASEBALL
Pope Leo XIV is from Chicago, so folks IMMEDATELY asked him which Chicago team he liked...the Cubs or the White Sox. He immediately answered: the White Sox.
Lol. The White Sox are in the playoffs! Is there some Pontifical prompting here?
Probably not, but still...
HG: With all due respect, this elderly gentleman is providing a service, shelter, to the public and has, considering the rise of crime lately, legitimate concerns.
You ever heard of ‘risk management’?
I for one think he’d be crazy not to minimize risk.
Maybe the “elderly gentleman” should look into operating
legitimately and quit using fraudulent fake names like
a criminal or a felon.
Who knows what else?
Fentanyl? Child trafficking? He’s got a fake name, anything goes.
Whatever compelled you to sign up for Facebook in the first place? And please don’t tell me it was so you could stay in touch with family/relatives.
Ignore that stumbleblunder thing.
Set up company and use the company on Facebook. Lots of virtual office locations to use for your business location.
Yo mama a thing.
Sometimes she rent that thing, get cash dollar.
Wanna say some more crap behind my back?
