The Christian pastor who sparked panic with a failed prediction of the Rapture has made a new claim that the end-times belief is near.
Pastor Joshua Mhlakela, a South African preacher, recently said he has calculated the exact time of the biblical event in which believers are lifted into the clouds to meet Jesus Christ, claiming that it will happen between October 12 and 13.
The Rapture is a belief held by some Christians called 'eschatology,' which is the study of end-times events, marking the Second Coming of Jesus and Judgment Day for non-believers.
Mhlakela has claimed in multiple interviews and his own videos online that both God and Jesus have appeared to him in visions, revealing when the Rapture would take place and what the fallout on Earth would look like.
The controversial pastor declared: 'God told me because there's no other date coming out, 12 to 13 October, which is the true feast of trumpets, which is when I will be meeting my savior face to face in the rapture.'
Mhlakela has drawn widespread skepticism and criticism for his wild predictions, including incorrectly marking the date of the Rapture multiple times in 2025.
He sent social media into a frenzy when he alleged the biblical event would take place on September 23, 2025, convincing scores of believers who watched his predictions online to sell their homes and cars and even quit their jobs.
'There's no other final. I mean, there's no other rapture date. This is the final date for me,' Mhlakela claimed in an interview on September 17.
The pastor claimed his previous false predictions were not errors, but the work of God, who was delaying the final judgement to give humanity more time to repent.

Matthew 24:36 says it best: no one knows the day or the hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in Heaven or the Son Himself but only the father knows.
Great. I’ll be out of town.
Next up: On October 14, Pastor Mhlakela will claim that he forgot to carry the 1 in his last calculation. A new date will be announced soon.
In the meantime, please send him money so he can afford to buy calculator.
2 Thessalonians 2:3
Let no man deceive you by any means, for that Day shall not come, unless there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition,
Amen.
Will he apologize or say he lied when he is wrong?
Ya know...
It’s not a good day for me...
Doctor appointment and a Big charge if I cancel so let’s get another date 📅
Okay?
Nobody is going to notice when it happens.
Maybe a few faces on milk cartons.
Maybe an Amber alert or two.
Shades of Edgar Whisenant. And Harold Camping. And Mhlakela himself (last year). (link below):
This link lists 5 other times the Rapture was predicted, but n one of those came to pass either:

Even assuming theoretically that the Rapture will occur, doesn’t the Bible itself say that no one except God knows the day or hte hour?
You beat me to it. I hadn’t seen your post yet when I mentioned “no one knows the day or the hour” in my own post. Heh. :-)
Went to Mass and communion. Hope it is so.
Guess I won’t be buying any green bananas.
Oh my! My recollection of proclaiming now is the time, goes back to that Hal Lindsay ,(sp,) book, ,,’The late great planet earth”.
All these proclaimers, (sigh), for me it was the :80’s crowd. ‘run your credit cards up the wall, leave all that debt for those left behind to deal with!”
So you believe in the secret rapture? Totally nonBiblical.
Ok.
My heart doctor beat you to that one.
For you yourselves know perfectly that the Day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. And Pastor Mhlakela hath investeth in an ADT Rapture alarm system which giveth warning while the thief is still prowling.
Don't think he is right but there is an argument to be made.
Exactly.
I think the number may be very low. There is a reason Philippians 2:12 says that we need to work out your salvation with fear and trembling. It is only by the grace and mercy of Our Lord that any of us have a chance.
There’s a reason Matthew 7:21-23 should make us get closer to Christ.
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
Those people were genuinely surprised. Genuinely.
I did some work for some persecuted African Christians, and I can tell you that they were living through the tribulation. Maybe not The Tribulation, but definitely a form of it. It truly humbled me in ways I cannot even begin to describe.
Each of us as believers have to ensure we are close to Christ.
And yes, I may be wrong, but there’s a chance the number would be low enough that it could be confused for normal disappearances here and there.
On the other hand, there might be entire villages of Iranian Christians, communities of the few followers of Christ in Syria, some Christian communities in the Muslim Hausa regions of Northern Nigeria, etc etc that may disappear. Most would think they just got killed off.
Just saying.
