Tennessee death row inmate Christa Pike will likely have brain damage after her botched execution, during which she chillingly lifted her head and asked if the pain she was feeling was normal.
Pike, 50, was rushed to the hospital Wednesday after the Tennessee Department of Corrections administered two doses of the highly potent sedative, Pentobarbital, but it failed to kill her.
The murderer, who was sentenced to death for the monstrous 1995 slaying of a classmate, was “being provided life-saving measures” in the hospital, her lawyers said – but she likely has a brain injury as a result.
Emory University School of Medicine professor Dr. Joel Zivot – who was retained by Pike’s legal team as a medical expert – told the BBC that the amount of the lethal drug pentobarbital in her blood likely never reached a level high enough to stop her breathing and heartbeat.
“It’s very possible that as a consequence of the delay of the beginning of resuscitation she will have a brain injury,” Zivot explained.

The issue is they no longer have available the drug that worked. Now they use a cocktail of drugs that *should* work.
But who cares. She’s a dirtbag.
Off to canada with her.
It’s MAID time, babeee!
Canada and the EU end lives peacefully all the time.
Millions of animals are euthanized every year.
Why would they botch an execution? My guess is to stir up anger against capital punishment.
What they did to Pike is as bad as what they did to Eduard Delacroix in The Green Mile. There is a reason behind this.
She asked for a fail safe firing squad and the crocked system would’n oblige her.
“Well, excuuuuuse me!”
This smells of a purposeful screw up, to prevent the death penalty, or make it harder t use in the future.
Something smells rotten here!
Bring back the chair.
“””””Killing......so easy a caveman could do it.”””””
In the 20th century we were walking on the moon, now all these experts can’t figure out how to kill someone who is tied down inside of a killing room.
I wonder if some lawyer will initiate a lawsuit for the brain damage on her behalf.
Will she be able to now collect disability?……..just wondering…
I don’t know what went wrong, but if she’s brain damaged I doubt they will try to execute her again.
Sheesh. Enough of this shit. Hanging, firing squad, electrocution. Be done with it. Oh, we can’t be cruel. It’s not. Done right, each of these methods is quick. Screw letting them die peacefully in their sleep. As far as I’m concerned, they should die as violently as they killed.
At least it’s a traditional policy to debate. Where is Susan Sarandon? Bring back the nun too.
I recently had my pacemaker changed out and one of the drugs they gave me so they could test the shock function without me remembering it was ... Fentanyl. Really! I was really surprised, but I guess they didn't give me as much as George Floyd swallowed.
Just shoot her in the head.

If this isn’t an argument against government competence or efficiency at anything - I don’t know what is.
They couldn’t execute her if she’s brain damaged, if it’s bad enough.
The SCOTUS has ruled a person must be aware of what is happening and why to be executed.
I suppose that’s better than a botched hanging. If someone survived a hanging (depending on the state and time period), the sentence was considered served and the prisoner released, as one spared by God.
