FR hasn't really changed much over the decades I've been on it. And I know many people have supported it directly financially (I have in the past as well).
I'd love to see them use some of that money to improve the service. I'm not knocking them for wanting to make a profit on what they developed, but complacency leads to death. As our crowd gets older we need newer users to join to keep the community growing.
So what features would you love to see FB add that you'd be willing to donate to get?

I’ve donated in one big batch at times. If FR wants to pay to play...they can. No where did I read you must donate monthly? Did you?
BTW: there are many free forums on the internet. And don’t even have begathons.
That was just a joke, man. I don’t want to see that delete feature at all. You can already always ignore anything you don’t want to read here. FR is what it is, it doesn’t need to be changed to be like everything else.
It could use an improvement. Like the capability to search for words, phrases, and usernames within the comments of the threads.
yeah, well it hasn’t changed at all. It’s still in the 90s as far as format, hard to follow threads, no likes, hits etc
But changing the platform costs a lot, I have no idea how much is taken in through donations. I believe there’s a pledge not to do any advertising so i assume there’s no money.
There really is no alternative now, is there? I use this to get a lot of my news feeds. Way back before he went crazy, Drudge was place, albeit without the forums.
I don’t know how many users we have or how many of us would cough up the funds to revamp it.

Invision Community is the backbone for several other sites that I post on. Pretty much all the additional features that folks have mentioned. I’ve experienced close to 100% uptime and the pricing seems reasonable. Kudos to Jim for developing our software in 2008, but that is a lifetime ago with respect to technology.

I’ll admit that I’m not a beloved, prolific thread starter like you, and likely no one will notice or care when I’m gone....
... but I bet I’m not the only one who hates those unnecessary two factor logins or ‘prove you are not a robot’ ‘Captcha’ stuff that are becoming so ubiquitous, even on sites where they serve no useful purpose.
I've never kept track of my donations. I am guessing around $6K+ over 25 years
I don’t mind a numeric code sent. But those ‘click on all the images with a bus’ are almost impossible to see half the time.
No doubt the dial-up BBS would suit you better. We conservative miss Kermit...
