FR hasn't really changed much over the decades I've been on it. And I know many people have supported it directly financially (I have in the past as well).
I'd love to see them use some of that money to improve the service. I'm not knocking them for wanting to make a profit on what they developed, but complacency leads to death. As our crowd gets older we need newer users to join to keep the community growing.
So what features would you love to see FB add that you'd be willing to donate to get?

I guess I'd love to see FR implement discourse. It could help grow our audience and reach more like minded people.

No thanks. I’m getting sick of websites that keep changing just to add more superficial fluff.
FR is great because of the content not the appearance. The only improvement I’d support would be a Like button.

That would increase storage costs and possible open up FR to liability for storing offensive / illegal / copyrighted images.

If you agree or disagree with a post you can at least articulate why. Thumbs up/down just makes it to easy for users to keep giving thumbs down to someone they dislike or are feuding with
When posting to FR, it would be nice if one could preview the title before posting. Titles also don’t support HTML, but it would be an improvement if they did.

...and, lately there has been a lag that’s never been here before. its obvious that i’m not the only one experiencing it with all the double and triple posts of late...
Spend some time on Reddit, or Reddit descendents like the Great Awakening, or The Donald-America First.
These will give you a good idea of what features NOT to implement on FR!
Making it easier to post pictures will just make it easier to spam a thread with memes rather than discussing with actual arguments. Sometimes images help illustrate a point, most of the time it is a replacement for thought.
thats the reason this place has text only. having them store media is expensive for them! ...which means expensive for us after donations...

I remember Jim saying none of the money donated goes into the future of FR.
Then make it an option in that thread where people can use photos or not use them.
make it so people who pay get X amount of storage. There are way to make it better for people who are willing to pay, while still keeping it free for those that don’t.
Old saying worth repeating...

So where does it go? In their pockets? If so that’s a lot of donation money just to maintain a website that really doesn’t cost much to maintain. I could run this on a cloud server (cut out all the hardware costs) and make it perform better for a lot less than they are making.
Once again I’m all for them getting their profits, but at this point I really don’t like paying for a used old outdated model. I’m sure many on here will disagree though. Most people don’t like change. But if we want to be part of the future we have to change (for the better...not just for change sake).
