Two Ole Miss students found dead in separate incidents— with kratom found at both scenes

Two University of Mississippi students were found dead Monday in separate incidents – and packaged kratom was found at both scenes, authorities said.

The probe into the mysterious deaths is being led by the Lafayette County Metro Narcotics team, who said Tuesday the cases are not believed to be connected.

“Law enforcement is currently conducting two separate death investigations. At this time, we have no confirmed evidence indicating that the two deaths are connected,” the agency said.

Kratom, a herbal substance that acts as a stimulant in small doses and an opioid-like sedative in higher amounts, was found in both investigations.

But the Lafayette County Metro Narcotics squad said it does “not have confirmed information indicating that kratom or any other substance was a contributing factor in either death.”

Kratom can be legally sold in parts of Mississippi but is restricted within Lafayette County where the university is located, according to Mississippi Today.

The identities of the dead students have not yet been released.

“The University is heartbroken by the recent loss of two students and extends our condolences to their families, friends and loved ones during this difficult time,” Ole Miss said in a statement to The Post.

“We are aware that considerable unverified information is circulating on social media and in the community regarding these recent student deaths,” the university said. “The Coroner’s Office has confirmed two student deaths, and University Police are not aware of any additional student deaths.”

I see it in all the convenience stores. Mind boggling that you can just buy it OTC. I know a guy who stole $6k for this crap over 4 months from his boss and got fired and threatened with arrest if he didn’t pay her back. He had to go to rehab. Probably still uses it.

there’s this guy in my neighborhood i see walking to the gas station every day to get this stuff. i hear he hits up a bunch of different stations so it doesn’t look like he’s buying too much.

I think FedGov is working up to scheduling kratom. They want public support before they move. In this story the cops say they don’t know cause of death and warn about speculation, but the headline and story blames kratom.

I see lots of negative stories about it over the last couple of months.

I'm surprised Ole Miss didn't blame Lane Kiffen because he was there over the weekend and according to them, he is the source of all evil and corruption. (I might have to concede them that last point.)

Mrs. Eagle has been taking Kratom for fibromyalgia for about 15 years to help wean her way down from Oxycodone and Norco which she was addicted to. She still takes Kratom to keep her use of oxy and Norco to a minimum.

Kratom is the need SUV and Climate Change psyop probably funded by the pharmaceutical companies. I'm sure they'd love to see my wife get addicted again.
