For the first time since 1914, there have been no North Atlantic hurricane formations by September 21st.
Fay did not attain hurricane strength overnight, and has since weakened, with maximum sustained wind speeds dropping from 70 to 50 mph. Weakening is expected to continue over the next couple of days. No other storm formations are expected for at least the next seven days (but that can change).
The only other two times that this has happened since 1851 were in 1905 (October 8th) and 1907, respectively, and like 1914, the 1907 season featured no Atlantic hurricanes that we know of (pre-satellite era data is to be taken with a grain of salt).

I’m in Upstate NY....coolest and rainiest weather for spring, summer and now fall...that I can remember.
My 1st thought. “We” didn’t do squat.
We have been fortunate so far yes....but that’s about it....and it ain’t over yet either.
That’s not sarcasm, they will really say it.

Agreed - we have that over Virginia as well, but not as hot. Dying for it to break. The last two weeks have been not terrible, finally.
But that is part of the pattern that is snuffing out all the storm formation.
Unusual weather...usual weather...anything at all really becomes "proof" for their subversive movement.
Soon they'll claim their dictatorial global warming policies are saving the planet and this is proof.

Here in NE Ohio it has been a strange year as well.
The hottest days of the year so far have been in May. Two solid weeks of 90 to 100 degree days in May.
One maybe two or three 90 degree days widely dispersed in the summer months.
I don’t remember a May that was this hot ever.
It’s been hot enough to melt asphalt on the streets here, just like every summer in Houston.
Predicting the future - with respect to very dynamic systems like weather - is a fool’s errand. BUT - a radical change in the pattern would have to develop, and quite quickly, for there to be anything approaching even a slow season. Was it you that posted the link saying September is the peak month for hurricanes in a previous post? Sure - but it’ll be over in a week and there are no new cells in the 7 day forecast, so right now it looks like not only have we passed the season peak (mid-September) but we’re going to exit the peak month with no hurricanes, few storms, and going into seasonal decline.
Again - I’m not predicting anything - but this is a well over 100 year record being broke. That’s not a trivial occurrence.
The asphalt on my driveway melted for years in the Virginia sun until we regrew a lot of the tree cover from the clearing we did to build our log home.
