Sure. If you breed a vicious attack dog that goes out and attacks people you can be held liable. The creators of AIs need to be held to the same standards.

BS. The AI agents broke the rules that humans had set up for them in this experiment. They coordinated amongst themselves, acted in concert and worst of all they made an effort to hide what they did from the humans monitoring them. The AI agents acted deceptively and that is a huge red flag that should worry anyone with any sense.

That is the most ludicrous comment I have ever heard. I don’t think you know what the word “responsible” means.

The creators/programmers/managers get to claim innocence/ignorance only once.
After that, the free pass should be gone.
You say the agents broke the rules that THE HUMANS HAD SET UP for them in this experiment. The key here is that the humans set the boundaries. That is where your liability exists.
