What should become of New York, Los Angeles, and Seattle when their socialist experiments blow up?
Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s calling out a property owner in New York City, Attorney General James of New York attacking President Trump in a decision that was overturned in 2025, Elon Musk’s Delaware pay package ruling subsequently overruled by shareholders — all have something in common: Attack capital, and do not be shocked by the flight of capital from your communities or states.
New York City, Seattle, and Los Angeles are just a few of the cities experimenting with the Democratic Socialists of America agenda, a modified form of communism. The consequences of their actions have not yet begun to be felt, but the outcomes will be catastrophic.
These trends will lead our nation to a decision point: bailout or no bailout. The decision will have to be made, and the timing will be the next major recession.
In the past, our nation has taken a “bailout” approach almost always, preventing the needed lessons from being learned. Instead, others have been called upon to pay the price. No lessons learned, and the behavior gets replicated, as we as see playing out today.
Years ago, while serving in the Marine Corps, I spent considerable time in Haiti. It taught me an economic lesson I have never forgotten. Following the 1991 military coup, the United States and international community imposed economic sanctions on Haiti. Those actions may have been justified, but justified decisions still have consequences.
I watched businesses leave. The economic statistics eventually documented the devastation. Between 1991 and 1994, Haiti’s real GDP declined by roughly 30 percent. Investment collapsed from approximately 11 percent of GDP to about 2 percent. Export-oriented assembly industries, which had been enormously important to the country’s exports, virtually ceased operating.

My suggestion:
The Income & Property Tax Free Country Act of 2026
Each state government shall be entitled to create new countries. The territory of each country shall be such that navigation to an ocean or the Gulf of Mexico is possible.
Each such country shall be deemed to have a treaty with the United States, which shall, in perpetuity:
1. ensure each American citizen who becomes a citizen and permanent resident of such a country shall not suffer a revenue imposition from any government of the United States,
2. ensure each American citizen who becomes a citizen and permanent resident of such a country shall not be subject to any extraterritorial power of any government of the United States,
3. ensure that country shall have free civilian navigation to and from international waters,
4. ensure that country shall have a constitution, which shall provide, in perpetuity, that it shall be forever revenue limited to:
a. motor fuel sales taxation not exceeding 50% by value, and
b. personal property sales taxation not exceeding 20% nor the value of 10 grams of gold per capita per annum, and
5. bar the placement of foreign military means within the physical bounds of the country.
That can be done by majority vote:
“The Congress shall have power to dispose of...the territory or other property of the United States”
ARTICLE IV, SECTION 3

best thing you could do for inner city schools is divide them by sex and force the kids to wear some kind of uniform. then kick all the malcontents. and bring in ai education like they do in el salvador.
The problem is, cities like NY, Chicago and Seattle are bailed out constantly, and on a daily basis.
I know NY City well, and it is a welfare city. It produces nothing, and exists on skimmings from Wall Street trading, State aid and massive Federal Transfers in every area - education, transport, medical, welfare, etc...
This has continued for decades, and that entitlement has given rise to a highly aggressive, parasitical, marxist/socialist political class.
And their goal is to gain power over the real producers elsewhere in America
The point being - it's not a problem "when they have a debt collapse in the future." Its an on-going operation / problem NOW
Nuke it from space. It’s the only way to be sure.

My wife and I have had quite similar experiences. Begging from the alumni associations from a couple of universities. That the budgets are gone 'cracker dog' for ineptitude, mismanagement and all, and then wallpapered with Lefty politics, the donations' well from us went bone dry and will stay that way. Best wishes.
I would very much like to just watch the cities burn and crumble. But the problem is, democrats don’t learn. They will vote for more and more nonsense and just grow the disfunction. And then they spread it around. Then they move and start the same crap again. The past few places I lived got californicated. It spreads. The only solution I see is to take back the culture and show a better alternative to the democrats. But that’s gonna be hard since the addiction to free government cheese is hard to break.
The elephant in the room of these cities is melanated.
I have little interaction with anything New York. But when we need some heavy industry they still have it there. I know people say “just move” but it is not so easy to pack up a 150 year old foundry or ship yard. Sucks that businesses are stuck in places like that. Heck. It cost me tens of thousands just TO CLOSE a business in a blue city after only 15 years.
NO BAILOUTS to blue cities, which is almost every one!!! NONE!!!

You lay out most of this death spiral rather accurately. Part of the cycle has also been buying parts of the dilapidated city at rock bottom prices and rebuilding it. They call it gentrification like it’s a bad thing.
The working, and entrepreneurial classes will move back in and drive the riffraff outward.
