Watch: 600+ Crocodiles Infest River to Host Brisbane 2032 Olympic Rowing

The land Down Under is known for hosting any number of creatures great and small that can kill you. Rowers competing at the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games will face that challenge after their event was approved Thursday for the waters of the Fitzroy River which hosts more than 600 saltwater crocodiles.

That’s not all.

Lethal Australian box jellyfish have also been found found near the mouth and tidal saltwater sections of the central Queensland river’s waters in the past. Add bull sharks and deadly snakes amongst its potential lethal predators in the water and along the banks.

Not that any of those are concerns for the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

In six years’ time, the 2032 Brisbane Olympics and Paralympics are set to stage rowing and canoe sprint events in this very stretch of water, the BBC reports, which has just passed a technical IOC-endorsed assessment and been endorsed as safe and fair for athletes.

Having reviewed the assessment, World Rowing president Jean-Christophe Rolland and Paddle Worldwide president Thomas Konietzko endorsed the waterway.

The ABC reports Rolland said it could provide a safe, fair and consistent field of play suitable for Olympic and Paralympic rowing and canoe sprint competitions.

The same stretch of water they are having the long distance swimming events, (Aussies are crazy enough to do it!)

Are any of the inhabitants of the river competing for the right to bite women or men as women? Hope not, the second one will leave a bad taste in their mouths. A true buffet. And this truly lives up to the thought as because they are athletes, you may not like the taste but you have to admit they were well prepared.

And if I’m not mistaken, the Australian saltwater crocodile is as aggressive as they come.

Will they have snipers and helicopter gunships to kill any aggressive crocs during the rowing competition. The winning teams must be admonished against throwing the coxswain in the water...

New Olympic Sport: Aquatic Biathlon.

Competitors must swim through crocodile infested waters to their boat 2 km away and row it back. You have to do the swimming part first to reduce congestion in the rowing segment.

Why do you think Kenyans always dominate marathons?

They train by running from lions.

"Wow this is a really early start to “the Olympics are going to be a disaster”. This is 6 years out, it’s not even the next Olympics. Must be bored."

Let's send Mitt Romney to Australia for the next six years. He can provide necessary oversight and save the olympics.

I bet they set some new speed records!.................
______________________
Top speed for Olympic rowers is 18mph; top speed in water for crocodylus porosus (salt water crocodile) is 15-18mph in short bursts ...crocs can move even faster on land in short sprints. ‘Sounds like an even match to me ...of course, if your racing scull gets capsized you’re not going to win a swimming match w/a determined crocodile.
