Upheaval continues to mount for Bill Belichick at North Carolina.
His son, Steve Belichick, will resign as the team’s defensive coordinator effective Oct. 27, when his medical leave ends, the school announced Thursday as it said it concluded a probe into the program’s culture.
The 39-year-old, a longtime assistant for his dad with the Patriots, has been on medical leave since Aug. 6.
He was embroiled in an investigation in which lawyers have been questioning people about whether he used drugs while at work, or gave drugs to at least one player, WRAL reported earlier this month.
The investigation also looked into whether staffers and players had sexual relations, per ESPN.
The probe found that “certain actions demonstrated a disregard for Carolina’s values and standards of conduct.” The actions “were isolated in scope and not a systemic failure,” the school said.
It did not specify what it found.
Steve’s resignation comes after Mike Lombardi resigned as the team’s general manager two weeks ago as he was also the subject of the probe after a complaint from a former front office employee at the program.
UNC also announced the indefinite suspension of freshman wide receiver Keeyun Chapman, who was cited Tuesday night for carrying a concealed weapon, according to WRAL.
He was the passenger in a Cadillac SUV being driven by another freshman receiver C.J. Sadler, who was cited for speeding after allegedly driving 60 mph in a 35-mph zone, per WRAL.
Steve was a defensive assistant for his dad on the Patriots staff from 2012-15, coached safeties from 2016-18, defensive backs in 2019 and outside linebackers from 2020-23.
He spent one season as University of Washington’s defensive coordinator before joining his dad in Chapel Hill last year.

Remember the old adage that “There are no second acts in American lives”. Put Bill Belichick’s picture next to it.
Every great coach was a great coach because they had a great quarterback. Still, Belichick was the one who elevated a sixth round draft choice to starter over an established starting quarterback...
Bellichick is an average coach. Bill needs to call the guy that knocked Bledsoe out and thank him. Or maybe pay him.

Bellichick is an extraordinary defensive coach. Yes, It helped a great deal to have LT, but you can say that about every coach who had great players. Andy Reid was a very good coach in Philly, but became a Hall of Fame coach with Patrick Mahomes.
As a head coach, Bellichick did well with the right kind of players and, of course, Tom Brady running things. With Brady gone, the Patriot Way collapsed and that was exacerbated by the years of terrible drafting which calls into question a lot of things with him. Then this absolute train wreck at North Carolina with the teenybopper girlfriend and the whole thing on 60 Minutes, and now his drug addict son. If you were his worst enemy custom designing how to make him look bad, you'd come up short compared with Bellichick has done to himself. It's remarkable.
I’d say his time in NE was a 2nd act. Actually probably a 4th act. He had his first stint as Parcells’ assistant. Then the Browns. The working for Parcells again. Then the Pats.
Another Belichick son is taking over the DC duties for now. Looks like UNC has become a jobs program for the Belichick family and friends. Wonder how the alumni feel about that.

High schools in the San Fernando Valley.
He interviewed the coaches.
He had just gotten a job at CSUN coaching.
(Cal State Northridge).
The coach at Granada Hills high school won the job.
He got to be the high school coach for John Elway.
I was on drill team and performed at the halftime shows.
