Modern investment strategy today includes something called "direct indexing". Direct indexing holds a broad range of individual stocks rather than mutual funds or ETFs.
This is a method of investing in a broad market - rather than picking a few stocks based on insider information.
A computer algorithm automatically balances these accounts based on whatever investment strategy has been programed.
I have seen investment accounts from single individuals with literally thousands of trades. Their accounts looks like a day trader on speed.
The idea that Trump is making each of these trades himself is stupid. The Democrats are using this as a dishonest smear.
And looking at the FR comments on a recent thread on this topic, FR is either inundated with trolls, or the collective IQ of this place has dropped 50 points.
Stop being stupid.

Both totally true.
Then why not actually place them in a blind trust?
One is quite free to create a blind trust with specific instructions to implement algorithmic trading.
I just posted this also on another thread. The tell is the article indicates he has thousands of shares in different companies. If insider trading this would be done with a handful of companies. Also, investing in a vanguard dividend fund as his largest transaction: That is not the tracks of someone using insider information, that is someone with a relatively low risk tolerance about investing which is also categoristic of a person whose major assets are in business and real estate.
I’ve seen ads for companies to boost my credit score 50 to 100 points but never one to boost my IQ, which I really need.
The only collective IQ that has dropped is the collective IQ of the antiAmericans who have infiltrated FreeRepublic.
Exactly. The better Trump does for the USA the better his investments do.

The tell you’re missing is that he has frequently made purchases in stocks that he later publicly touted, Palantir and Nvidia among them.
Except that nvidia and palintier have been rocketing for years and everyone and their dog has recommended both. No secrets here

So FXXin’ wut? If his “algorithm” bought the stocks and he later notices that the companies are great, his algorithm worked.
Are you alleging that he personally intervened and bought those specific stocks before they got any gov’mt encouragment? That is the only thing that matters, did he trade on info only he had? That is insider trading and illegal in most situations — except for Congress.

So then I’ll repeat the question.
If it’s algorithmic trading, direct indexing, or the the genius of his advisor... Why not put the holdings in a blind trust?
I own both.
However, I didn’t buy shares and then from the office of the President recommend them to the public.
If Trumps investments were put in broad index funds, there would be no controversy. His purchases appear to be of individual company stocks.

As I wrote before, he made a billion from his crypto sh-t-coin. He has to put it somewhere.
Making all of those trades is a tax nightmare. But as its all automated I guess they can just drop it into the “forms.”
I didn’t see anyone suggest that he was sitting behind his PC pounding Red Bulls and doing lines while day trading. I am sure he is using some agentic trading system that his kid sold him on.
The problem with Trump lately is he does stuff without explaining. No, we don’t “need” to know about his private portfolio moves. But look at how much time is wasted trying to figure out what he is doing.
Personally, I think its just another example that Trump just cares about Trump.
