The Republican nominee for Texas Railroad Commissioner was criticized after a series of posts on X Sunday targeting a diverse group of students at the Texas football game. Bo French shared a photo of students of South Asian descent cheering for the Longhorns after their Saturday night win over Ohio State and wrote that “social media is exposing how many Americans have been displaced by foreigners.”

In another post sharing the same photo French wrote: “I heard UT graduation this year looked like this. I didn’t believe it. The problem is now obviously far worse than anyone imagined.

It’s not too hard to find out - just visit ANY engineering or medical program in the country. You’ll see the single largest demographic group in the US (at least for now) almost totally MISSING.

But in defense of the immigrants, at least they don’t waste their time with ‘soft’ studies, unlike the 19th Amendment types.

There are millions of native born Americans, and not even anchor babies, whose ancestors came from all over the world. Some groups generally encourage their children to study the sciences and math and everything else with rigor. Some groups are OK with their children studying some things somewhat. Some groups seem to be OK with their children barely attending school and/or disrupting class when there. . None of these describe all of the kids in a certain group, but in general, it’s been true.

There will never be quality of outcome until there is equality of effort. Personal responsibility does not seem to be something that many so-called leaders today believe in.

That was true when I was in college in the late '80s and early '90s - first year Intro to Programming, mostly white. Third year Compiler Construction, Data Structures, Signal Analysis - mostly Chinese, Indians and Vietnamese. These days the Indians probably come in first, based on who I was seeing in interviews.

Self-selection. The foreign born and second generation students stuck with engineering.

Those students are 18 or 19 years old and some might be as young as 17.

They were born here, and it is likely most of their parents were born in the USA.

I worked for a few years as a security guard for a major university. And I always volunteered for the holiday shifts - double time and a half.

So there I was, walking through deserted university halls. But the labs weren’t deserted. The Asian students were still there, hard at work. They were in the science libraries as well.

No holidays for those guys.

Those criticizing Mr. French are cutting their own throats. Let me tell you a little story.

My very white son had a 4.0 in college and wanted to enter dental school. He scored far above average on the DAT — a score that should have gotten him into most top-tier schools. He is also a high-flyer, tremendously sociable, funny and interesting. Absolutely nothing weird or off about him. People at his grocery store job that he worked to put himself through college used to say, “You’re like the all-American guy.”

Before applying to dental schools, he was told by people in the know that he had an uphill battle because he’s the “wrong color”. Apparently, he’s also the wrong gender. He sent in 15-20 applications. He got online interviews from about five. He was invited to visit three. In all three, he noticed that the male/female ratio was heavily tilted toward females. He also noticed that there were hardly any white guys in any of the programs.

At the end of the day, he got accepted to one and only one. He’s now a dentist in training, but nearly all of his class is Indian/Arab/Other foreign, and about 60% female.

This is by design. And it needs to stop.

No, it's not. What needs to happen is that the Indians and Muslims need to understand that they are subject to the same equal opportunity laws as the rest of us. A few dozen prosecutions for this might make them think twice.
