This has been a debate for decades. Did this man survive his parachute hijacking attempt? After years of studying the case files on this crime, I believe that he lived and provide my reasons behind thinking this.

Yes and he lived in NC until he died........
Its possible he lived but lost his grip on the money on the way down
Didn’t a family find some of the money on the river shore?
thats what makes me think so
I have thought about the DB Cooper case for a long time and I too assume the FBI thinks her survived. The reason I think about this is I am sure the FBI checked the Social Security and VA database for any accounts that went dormant without a death certificate. It would be strange for a veteran to stop cashing their checks or for a person to just stop paying taxes or applying for credit. The FBI probably went through all of those cases along with any new missing person cases and ruled them all out.
Oh, I’m so glad you posted this. I was just saying, “I wish someone would post a rambling twenty-minute Youtube video with a talking head yammering about stuff and nonsense!”
He had a rock band in the late 70s.
“It would be strange for a veteran to stop cashing their checks or for a person to just stop paying taxes or applying for credit.”
We live in different worlds. I’m a veteran of Vietnam. Where is my check?
I left the service in 1967. Didn’t have a credit record until 1993. I’ve known people my age who never ever had credit ... didn’t believe in it.
I’ve also known many people who establish credit, drivers license, etc under a 2d identity. Some were evading the government. Some just operated under a Nom de Pleum.
Remember, back in those days, you did not need an ID to get on an airplane. For all we know DB Cooper was an alias.
They also did not photograph everyone going through security in those days. That’s why the only image of Cooper is the police drawing based on witness descriptions of him.
My point was not if you qualify for a pension, VA benefits, or use credit. The point was that even in the 1970s virtually every adult in the country had some record of them existing. If any person stopped paying rent, showing up to work, using a checking account etc. it would raise suspicion. Take those people along with any missing person reports around the time of the hijacking and the FBI would have a list of people to investigate. The fact that the FBI only lists living people (after the hijacking) tells me the FBI assumes the person survived the jump and went back to their normal life.
IMHO- very valid points.
” Take those people along with any missing person reports around the time of the hijacking and the FBI would have a list of people to investigate.”
A list of several millions ..
Several million people went missing in 2-4 weeks? The list that included white males aged 35-65 that fit the profile of DB Cooper was probably less than 100.
EVEN CEASING TO PAY RENT & UTILITIES COULD BE A STARTING SPOT
Chute
This is EXACTLY thesort of case that Sherlock Holmes sat around waiting for.
The money on he River shore, Watson, THATS when it came together for me.
“”A list of several millions””
I was going to say the same thing...dormant bank accounts would encompass a lot of records to go through..
Good point....landlords would certainly miss a tenant especially if the rent wasn’t paid..he had to live somewhere unless he was like the Unabomber hiding out in the wilds somewhere before his plan...
