MADISON, WI — The Madison-based 115th Fighter Wing is reportedly deploying to the Middle East as the United States sends additional aircraft to the region amid its conflict with Iran.
Air & Space Forces Magazine reported that F-35 Lightning II stealth fighters from the 115th are expected to arrive in the Middle East in the coming days.
According to the report, the 115th will replace a Vermont-based F-35 wing and will be joined by F-16 aircraft from Ohio’s 180th Fighter Wing.
The Vermont group came home this weekend. My guess is that the WI group is replacing someone else.
Nothing like live fire training to add experience to our fighting forces.

In 1994 various air national guard units competed with regular US air force units in the William Tell competition.
The air national guard from Fargo (my home town), the Happy Hooligans came in first, The Green Mountain Boys from Vermont came in second, an air national guard unit from Louisiana and a Canadian guard unit came in fourth or fifth.
The regular air force units came in sixth and below.
Go air national guard.
