As he is wont to do, President Donald Trump has posted something to his Truth Social page that has got people talking and speculating this Labor Day holiday weekend.
The POTUS has had space endeavors on his mind in recent weeks, which have included honoring the famed crew of Artemis II and announcing plans to sign "an executive order establishing a U.S. National Space Academy, apparently to feed into the Space Force and NASA," as my RedState colleague Nick Arama previously reported.
"To continue to lead the world in space exploration and technology, while securing and defending our national interests in space, the Nation must prepare the next generation of astronauts, scientists, engineers, operators, entrepreneurs, civil servants, and warfighters and ensure that they are capable of advancing American interests in space," Trump noted in the executive order he signed on August 28th.
He added that "it is my Administration’s policy to strengthen the Nation’s space workforce by expanding opportunities to educate and develop the next generation of leaders across the space domain."
Something else RedState reported was Trump sharing what our own Ward Clark described as "the new strangely Star Wars-like Space Force uniform." We're not sure if this is going to be the finished product, but the image certainly sparked quite the stir:
... as did this one from Trump, where he declared "the moon is ours":
[Numerous X posts at article]
So it would sound like the goal of us going to the moon and staying there, along with Trump suggesting that the "moon is ours," would kind of go hand in hand.
What are your thoughts?

If you think we will never go back to the moon, current events would indicate otherwise. You should discuss this with Elon Musk. This is real, not fake.
Overview of SpaceX’s Plans for Louisiana Coast
SpaceX is set to build a significant rocket launch facility named Starbase Louisiana on the coast of Louisiana. This ambitious project represents a $100 billion investment and aims to enhance the company’s launch capabilities.
Key Details of the Project
Investment and Job Creation
Total Investment: $100 billion
Direct Jobs Created: Over 3,000
Indirect Jobs: Approximately 8,100
Average Salary: $92,600 per year
Construction Timeline
Start of Construction: 2027
First Launch Target: 2029
Facility Features
The Starbase Louisiana site will include:
Size: Approximately 125,000 acres
Launch Complexes: Five complexes, each with two launch pads
Additional Facilities:
Propellant production facilities
Power generation systems
Vehicle processing facilities
Employee housing
Potential deep-water shipping capabilities
Strategic Importance
The location on the Louisiana coast is advantageous for several reasons:
Access to Natural Gas: Supports fuel and power needs.
Low Population Density: Reduces risk during launches.
Launch Trajectories: Offers a variety of launch paths.
This facility is expected to support thousands of launches annually, significantly increasing SpaceX’s operational capacity and contributing to the growth of the aerospace industry in Louisiana.
True.
That’s true.
I prefer to think Chang’e and the Jade Rabbit own the Moon. Trump can go troll somewhere else.
Granted that Musk is aiming for 30 Starship launches a day by 2030, that “51st State” thing may be a fait accompli...because I think he will do it.
Last night I watched the news from Washington, the capital
The Russians escaped while we weren’t watching them, like Russians will
Now we’ve got all this room
We’ve even got the moon
There has to be will to do.
“That’s no moon. It’s a space station.”
Before we landed on it we signed a treaty saying it belonged to everybody. And then we signed another one after we landed. We can’t claim it.
Lunamerica..
good one- that’s it!
They are handsome, but maybe do away with the boots.
Why stop at the moon? I say we claim the observable universe.
Per the Space Force outfit, I’d prefer the maroon style from the Star Trek movies.
Agree. Big time. The left would use that paint Trump as a racist 24/7.
People name stars after themselves or others all the time. There’s even a registry for that.
Trump should rename the star called the sun, “The Trump”.
I think you're wrong because I believe the long-term plan to go to Mars uses the moon as a "steppingstone", though I doubt I'll see it in my lifetime (I'm 76). And, we don't own the moon.
Actually the moon is mine.
I own the entire thing
