Did you know washing clothes used to be a four day process?
The washing machine is right up there with readily available clean running water, flush toilets, gas stoves, central heating and antibiotics on my list of best inventions of the past 150 years.

Those were powerful washers. Gram had one in the basement for blankets, rugs, and heavy comforters. wish I had it today.
