The United Nations General Assembly on Friday endorsed a new world map that represents Africa more accurately in its larger size, a culmination of a recent campaign led by African countries and advocacy groups.
Friday’s resolution, which was sponsored by Togo and backed by members of the African Union, was passed with 164 member states voting in favor.
Only the US voted against it while six other countries — Serbia, Estonia, Georgia, Lithuania, Moldova and Ukraine — abstained.
The vote encourages governments and institutions around the world to replace the traditional Mercator map, commonly used since the 16th Century, with the Equal Earth projection that advocates and geographers say shows locations more accurately.
The Mercator projection shows Greenland and Africa as appearing to be about the same size whereas in the Equal Earth projection that shows continents in their true proportions, Africa is 14 times larger than Greenland.

either way the US will kick Africa's a$s twice a day without skipping lunch. Any day
The irony is that world maps have about six variables, and only half of them can be depicted at once. Size, shape, direction, distance, etc. Pick three and the rest are distorted. This is why Mercator maps are favored.
In fact,
I would argue, people of extraordinary intellect, unless taught early on a framework of morals or they have some epiphany along the way, tend to drift towards the evil.
They question things, see patterns, they learn quickly to manipulate others.
However, the self serving temptations of sin are still part of them, like all of us: lust, greed, envy, wrath, pride, sloth, gluttony.
I can assure you, these were VERY smart people:

What is amazing is that these people seldom see themselves as the monsters they were. The humans ability to rationalize their behavior and frame themselves as the victim is limitless: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQ9_BMshyiw
If Africa is so big, they damn sure don’t need to come here. Deport them all.
Click the earth menu in the bottom left and bring up the menu. At the bottom of the menu there are 8 different projections to chose from.
If you have a touch screen you can move these projections all over the place. For example the “O” projection which is a globe - touch the screen and spin it any direction. All the projections move around and some are pretty bizarre!
That is a cool site. Thanks for the link.
The Mercator was great for instilling fear of the allegedly supposedly behemoth Soviet Russia into elementary school children in the '50s and '60s.
Not in the slightest. Gargal Arth isn't a projection, it's a "spherical" three dimensional mapping.
I once saw an idiot attempt to steal a pistol from a dealer's table at a gun show. It did not go well for the would-be thief.
He was tackled and restrained by a half-dozen citizens, then vigorously escorted off the premises by a sheriff's deputy.
I never heard what happened to him.
“UN endorses new world map showing Africa’s true size — after US voted against it”
just shows the true size of this continental shithole ...
I thought this was all settled years ago with the adoption of the Robinson projection ?
And look up who Feliks Dzherzhinsky was for more inoight.
The Hobo-Dyer map. It is a map for hoboes.
