Georgia cops kill baby donkey HeeHaw, and his owner demands justice

family’s beloved pet donkey was shot and killed by Georgia cops after the tiny ass allegedly confronted them when they ran through his pasture.

Hannah Israel, 30, said officers entered the family’s property in Cedartown — near the Alabama border — without notice at about 12:45 a.m. while chasing a suspect when they came across HeeHaw.

“They claimed he ran up to them braying and they thought they were in danger and shot and killed him after trying to Taze him,” Israel wrote on Facebook

"HeeHaw was raised in the house and did petting zoos he never knew a stranger,” Israel added. “And was shot and killed in his OWN pasture for doing what donkeys do. Alerting to a stranger.”

A haunting photo taken during the aftermath of the shooting showed Israel crying over the dead donkey, whose eyes remained wide open as it laid on the ground.

There are articles all over the web about this.

One indicates that the child was found very close to this pasture - near a church, I seem to recall.

I don’t follow ‘Texas Gator’. What’s his claim to fame?

The reports states that the police entered the property a bit after midnight while chasing a “suspect”. The owner was not notified. I have had cops come to my house during daylight hours and they asked me of they could come on my property looking for a suspect. They asked me if I had animals on the property and/or dogs. I said “no animals” and gave them permission to go on my property. The police would not wake me up at 12 midnight to ask for permission to enter my property or ask about animals.
So if an animal comes toward the cop in the dark, that could be a giveaway to the suspect as to the cops location and cop could be an easy target if the suspect has a gun. Supposedly cops tried to taze the donkey first.
I feel terribly sad about the sweet little donkey dying. Restitution and more should be made to the owner. But suppose the donkey gave the cops position away and the cop AND donkey were killed by the suspect? Even more sadness, and suppose the suspect got away? Overall, a tragic and terrible sequence of events.

According to the book of the Revelation, there are animals in heaven. I am sure sweet little HeeHaw is there.

There was no armed suspect. The police chief has said they were searching for a missing 12 year old girl who was found shortly afterwards.

Qualified immunity has been expanded too much. It is not intended to cover incompetence. People too stupid to exercise delegated authority need to be held accountable and removed from office quickly. Police do have strong unions in most places, and they do protect the incompetent. Officer safety shouldn't readily apply to idiots on farm land without the owners knowledge or consent killing domesticated animals.
