A mother and daughter were killed after another car struck theirs while driving on the wrong side of I-270 in Bethesda, Maryland on Saturday, according to Maryland State Police.
State troopers said they responded at around 6:46 p.m. to the area of southbound I-270 just south of Democracy Boulevard after receiving a report of a two-vehicle crash.
Police said a Ford Mustang was driving in the wrong direction on I-270 and hit a Toyota sedan head-on.
Shamima Begum, 46, and Areebah Jahin, 23, were passengers in the Toyota and were pronounced dead. The 62-year-old driver and a 8-year-old passenger in the car were taken to nearby hospitals for their injuries. It is not yet clear how serious their injuries are.
Jose Nolasco, 32, was identified as the driver of the Ford. He was taken to a nearby hospital for his injuries on Saturday, according to police.
Investigators believe impairment may be a contributing factor to the crash, according to police. The crash is still under investigation.

Puncture strips don’t stop cars, as has been seen on live police shows.
They’d have to be automated (general emergency vehicle access), and have an emergency disable accessible to the general public (in case of immediate disaster/closure/wreck). For the latter you’d have to have a VERY non trivial punishment for misuse/abuse.
How about "a Ford Mustang was being driven in the wrong direction . . ." and then add the name of the culprit right there.

Sounds like a good idea. Deporting illegal aliens is also a good idea. An LWOP sentence for causing a death while driving drunk or high is also a good idea.

I guess the question is, are modern writers so incompetent that they can not write a clear and succinct sentence or is it deliberate obfuscation?
IMHO it’s mostly a deliberate obfuscation unless the alleged perpetrator is a white male. Then the propaganda media will be very clear.

Maybe they need to add Spanish-language and Hindi “Wrong Way” signs to those already there in English. Of course a drunk driver probably won’t notice the signs.
