A high school football game in McKeesport, Penn. was halted Friday night when a gunshot rang out just before 11 p.m., and a 17-year-old suspect was quickly apprehended.
Liberty Borough police anticipate filing charges of receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm by a minor, possession of a weapon on school property, reckless endangerment and carrying a firearm without a license alleged to have fired, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune Review.
The gun was reported stolen.
The game between South Allegheny and Elizabeth Forward high schools was late in the fourth quarter when the incident occurred.
The unidentified suspect is a student at Brashear High School in Pittsburgh, police said.
There were no reported injuries, but police recovered a loaded semi-automatic handgun from the suspect’s waistband, according to the Tribune Review.
He was transported in custody to a juvenile detention center.
WTAE, an ABC affiliate, reported that a .45-caliber round was recovered from the ceiling area of the stadium entrance.

Someone said recently something I never thought about. People used to hear cars backfiring once in a while outside but for a long time now engines have not had the problems that used to cause that.
From SlashGear website: (two of the reasons)
Older engines used carburetors, which mixed air and fuel before the intake valves opened. This created a combustible mixture in the intake manifold, making backfires more likely
Modern fuel injection systems use sensors (engine speed, throttle position, temperature) and an Electronic Control Module (ECM) to precisely control how long injectors open, ensuring the correct air–fuel ratio at all times.
2. Precise ignition timing
Older engines had less accurate timing, so sparks could arrive too early or too late, or valves could open/close at the wrong points in the cycle, creating conditions for backfires.
Modern engines use computer-controlled ignition timing that matches the fuel delivery, greatly reducing mistiming risks.

The student touches of a round at a highschool football game and remains unidentified?
Whaaaaaaa?
He could have been Obama’s son?
You don’t even have to look. It is coded into the euphemism “teen”.
Yes Boo Boo I know.
McKeesport used to be a nice suburb of Pittsburgh.
Also, the stereotype old okie flivver, backfiring to beat the band, was an indication that its owner was fueling the car from “drip,” or “drip fuel,” otherwise known as “white gas,” which was a condensate that collected in tanks in Oklahoma oil and gas fields.
“Teen” always makes me think of Sandra Dee, or, more in my generation, Maureen McCormick.
Gidget?
I grew up in McKeesport. It was once a nice place to grow up. Now,it’s a s**thole.
I grew up in McKeesport. It was once a nice place to grow up. Now,it’s a s**thole. They did away with night games.
Good thing I scrolled down a little before posting d;^)
Ha ha, yeah. The original Gidget.
USED TO BE, as huckfillary notes in post #30.
Rush told us about those yutes.
You know, I never thought about that, I remember when I occasionally heard an engine backfire. Even my lawnmower engine did it. Haven’t heard one in years.
As a kid, the family had a ‘74 dodge maxivan... Used to love driving it !! Driving down the road and see a bus stop ahead with a bunch of afro americans standing all around... just before ya reach it, tap on the gas and down shift to 1st and shut off the key. and then right in front of the bus stop, turn the key back on AND BAM!! lmao!! Epic backfire!! the scene in the rearview mirror was alawyas priceless!! lmao!!
good times!
Them. Avoid them. Your life may depend on it.
I did it as a kid... In these times, well... catch my tag line!! lol...
New fact to me. How much car lore is fading into the mists of history?
Well, to be fair, a lot of "horse lore" has faded into the mists of history.
In Betty Smith's wonderful A Tree Grows in Brooklyn there's a whole sub-plot about the relationship between the young protagonist's uncle, who is a milk deliveryman, and the horse that pulls his delivery cart. They have a love-hate relationship, with funny twists and turns.
Anyway, drip fuel was very low-octane.
