A woman who listed her home address as a local bar while running for Stockton City Council has dropped out of the race after she was arrested on multiple felony charges.
Desiree Lynch, who was running for the District 5 seat, withdrew from the race Monday, effective immediately, according to her attorney, Allen Sawyer, KCRA News 3 reported.
“Today Ms. Lynch resigned and withdrew from the race effective immediately,” Sawyer said in a statement. “In light of the legal process she is facing, there will be no other comment on this matter. Ms. Lynch is focused on taking care of her daughter and will devote 100% of her attention to her family responsibilities.”
Lynch was arrested last week on five felony charges, including three counts of perjury, causing or allowing false voter registration and filing a false nomination or declaration of candidacy.

Lynch was booked into jail on $100,000 bail following her arrest.
She is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 2 and faces a maximum sentence of six years and eight months in state prison if convicted.

California gets a better and better class of candidates with each passing election.

Prosecutors allege Lynch used two addresses — one belonging to Harry’s Cocktail Lounge on East Charter Way and another at the Doyle Garden Apartments on East Oak Street — to falsely establish residency in District 5.
Lynch, a mother and nurse, had campaigned on promises to bring “real solutions for working families” and clean up both City Hall and Stockton’s streets.
Following Lynch’s arrest, the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office accused her of attempting to cheat the system by manufacturing a false address.
“The integrity of our elections is the bedrock of our democratic process, and we must ensure that every election is run fairly and without fraud,” the DA’s office said. “The constituents of this community deserve a representative who actually lives in their neighborhoods, not an opportunist manufacturing a fake address to cheat the system.”

Far, far more realistic time in prison than the fentanyl dealers at LAX would receive. Reminds you of the prison used in The Man in the Iron Mask.
Desiree Lynch ran as a nonpartisan candidate.Because municipal and city council elections in Stockton, California, are legally nonpartisan, candidates do not run under the official banner of a major political party like the Democrats or Republicans. However, her campaign did receive formal backing from prominent local Democratic circles, including an endorsement from the group Stockton Democrats Together.
Was she a citizen?
It’s hard to believe she was arrested in CALIFORNIA for FRAUD. That’s a little hard to believe. I would assume she’d be given a medal.
The thing that never happens just happened again
Vote fraud in any form should be a capitol offense.

I told a young lady about my brother winning a 22 cal. rifle in a school candy selling contest when he was in the 9th grade. They brought the gun to the school and gave it to him and he brought it home on the school bus.
She couldnt believe that the gun didnt kill someone before he could get it home!
She got fat between the first and 2nd picture in the article 🤣🤣🤣
“Gun Sense Candidate” is the same as saying “Democrat”.
Back in the day in rural Pennsylvania, kids would bring their hunting firearms to school. The principal would lock them up and return them to their rightful owners at the end of the day. The students would go into the woods en route home, trying to bag a deer before returning home.
That principal would be burned at the stake nowadays.
Agreed. It’s not like she was running for senate or congress. It’s enough she was disqualified. But under arrest because of a false address? Maybe she has a jilted boyfriend on the local police force who stalked her using law enforcement tools (like Flock) then ratted her out. That’s been a thing lately.
“The integrity of our elections is the bedrock of our democratic process, and we must ensure that every election is run fairly and without fraud,” the DA’s office said.”
LOL! In California no less.
To be fair she was probably a cougar who lived mostly at the bar.
Even better, the mayor’s name is Fugazi...
“Moms Demand Action” sounds more like a horny housewives organization than a gun control advocacy group.
“But under arrest because of a false address? “
It depends on how Election Code in her area is worded. I was in charge of elections in a large city for a few years, and Code differs from place to place.
.....capitol - A building or complex of buildings in which a state legislature meets
....”capital” would be correct....
