“Squad” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez completed her egg-freezing journey and vowed to continue sharing updates, despite complaining last week about the “negativity” she’s faced for her social media postings on the process.
The 36-year-old Bronx and Queens congresswomen took her nearly 10 million Instagram followers along for the final day of the two week process — egg retrieval day — documenting the day starting at 5:30 a.m., in a post shared on Saturday.
Ocasio-Cortez was decked out in skincare eye masks for the procedure, which she thought “was a really nice way to bring some lightness to this process,” she said.
After the egg-retrieval procedure was complete, Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said, “[I] was informed of my final count, both in the number of eggs retrieved and which of those eggs were mature.
“As I’ve mentioned previously, out of respect for all the different kinds of fertility and family journeys that people have, I will not be sharing my specific numbers.”
“So instead of focusing on generalizations and fear, I instead want to encourage people to operate from the facts of your body specifically and knowledge of our reproductive systems, particularly shared by licensed fertility specialists,” she said.
The congresswoman recalled how her doctor explained the egg retrieval procedure where she would be “under anesthesia and asleep the entire time.”
“And as I sat on the other side of my doctor’s desk, I had this sudden intrusive fear-based thought. I imagined myself waking up totally alone,” she said in the social media video that has the comments section limited.

Does a female taking her eggs out hasten the onset of menopause? The ladies are born with only a finite number and do not make more over their life right? So when they stop ovulating and menstruating their hormones go whacky. Ladies bodies are so complex it’s no wonder they have so many issues.
I hope the Dims run her in 2028. I would actually pay to watch a debate between her and Rubio, Vance, or whomever the Republicans run against her. Come to think about it...even a fence post would have a good chance of winning that debate.
