Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has officially done what seemed almost impossible. The epic has overtaken Deadpool & Wolverine to become the highest-grossing R-rated Hollywood film of all time, with its worldwide box-office collection reaching a staggering $1.35 billion.
The Odyssey opened in theatres on July 17 and collected around $123.5 million domestically during its opening weekend. Since then, the film has continued to add to its worldwide total, eventually crossing the $1.35 billion mark. Its current haul includes roughly $516 million from North America and more than $835 million internationally.
The nearly three-hour adaptation of Homer’s ancient Greek poem has also benefited from strong word of mouth. Rather than disappearing after its opening weeks, the film has maintained enough audience interest to keep premium screenings in demand.
The film’s IMAX performance has been particularly striking. With approximately $354 million coming from IMAX, the format has become a major part of the movie’s overall theatrical success
With its current worldwide haul of $1.352 billion, The Odyssey has surpassed The Dark Knight Rises, which earned around $1.08 billion globally. That makes The Odyssey the highest-grossing film of Nolan’s directing career.

With inflation, The Dark Knight earned $1.57 billion in today’s dollars.
With apologies to Pauline Kael, I don’t know anyone who’s seen this movie.

Domestically is did only half as well as Deadpool, and as mentioned with inflation they are trying to keep the hype going.
Reeks of woke desperation, eh let them have their fantasy.

Homer inspired me to drink Duff Beer and donuts.
I wish they would rank films by butts in seats vs gross $ sales.

So: I’ll have another beer.

Ephesians 6:12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
New King James Version
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
American Standard Version
For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly
It’s pretty insane that the Simpsons are still on tv, three or nearly 4 decades later
You overestimate the movie
I’ve read a lot of mea culpas from people whose opinions I respect concede that “The Odyssey” is, much to their surprise, spectacular.
As someone who shares his last name but with a variation, I feel this family was cursed...at least my line was...thanks to my mother’s line of southern baptist preachers I feel I was saved. Not kidding in the least bit!
Yes, we’ve been redeemed from the curse, Jesus having been made a curse for us, as it is written, cursed is anyone who’s is hanged upon a tree.
I walked out after one hour. Worst movie I’ve ever seen. This must be from International sales.
Ah, more fun with numbers.
Net won’t be nearly that much, will it.
There’s a Deadpool and Wolverine movie? How did I miss that?
