Hayden Panettiere dies at 36

Panettiere is remembered for roles on "Heroes" and "Nashville," among others.

Actress Hayden Panettiere has died, her representative confirmed to ABC News. She was 36 years old.

"It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden. She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her -- and to the millions who watched her onscreen," her father, Skip Panettiere, said in a statement.

Her father asked for privacy "as our family takes time to process this unimaginable loss."

The TMZ article I linked to above mentions she’d been complaining recently of back pain so I’m guessing she either had a medical emergency or she overdosed on painkillers.

FWIW, one of the symptoms women get prior to a heart attack is back pain. Her brother died suddenly in 2023 at the age of 28 from cardiomegaly – an enlarged heart – coupled with aortic valve complications from a congenital heart defect.

Alcohol abuse is also a significant risk, causing alcoholic cardiomyopathy and heart damage and she was pretty open about her struggles with depression and addiction, so who knows.

Whatever the cause, my sympathy goes out to her family.

Yep, I suspect OD or suicide. 36 year old women rarely die from natural causes. Sad, I watched the first few seasons of Nashville back in the day, she was talented.

IIRC all of the main actors on Nashville actually did their own singing including Connie Britton who I had no idea could sing.

We watched it the first couple of seasons, it's a lot like Dallas...............

She was public about her struggles with addiction - reminds me of Erin Moran - only Hayden seemed to have a better shot at a long career.
