Citadel Cadet Dustin Rose, childhood best friend Samson Campbell gunned down by 17-year-old Keyan Rundell in Florida
===============================================================
A Citadel cadet and South Carolina Army National Guard member and his childhood best friend were gunned down in a vacant Florida lot by a 17-year-old killer last week.
Citadel cadet Dustin Rose and his childhood friend Samson Campbell were fatally shot in DeLand, Florida, last Wednesday night.
Samson Campbell came home to DeLand to mourn his family’s dog who recently died. Dustin Rose joined Campbell to spread the dog’s ashes.
The two young men were fatally shot at an industrial park and their bodies were found at 10:40 pm.
The suspect, 17-year-old Keyan Rundell was on the loose for a week before he was taken into custody on Wednesday.
Rundell has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder.
Investigators are still trying to determine a motive.
WCIV reported:
The 17-year-old suspect wanted for the double homicide, killing a Citadel cadet and another teenager, has been arrested, according to the DeLand Police Department.
Keyan Rundell, 17, was taken into custody without incident in Manatee County and is charged with two counts of second-degree murder in the July 29 deaths of Dustin Rose, a 19-year-old Citadel Cadet, and 18-year-old Samson Campbell, 18, according to the DeLand Police Department.
Police said officers responded around 10:40 p.m. July 29 to a report of two deceased people at a vacant industrial property in downtown DeLand. Investigators identified Rundell as a person of interest by the following afternoon after reviewing surveillance footage from the scene.
Authorities said a search warrant executed Saturday night led investigators to clothing and an e-bike they believe Rundell was using on the night of the killings, along with digital evidence that allegedly tracked his movements after the deaths. Rundell was not at the location when the warrant was served.
Law enforcement on Wednesday afternoon announced the arrest of 17-year-old Keyan Rundell.
Fox News reported:
A Citadel cadet and South Carolina Army National Guard member is one of two young men found shot to death in a vacant Florida lot, with police still hunting for a suspect.
The DeLand Police Department in Florida said Dustin Rose, 19, and Samson Campbell, 18, were found dead on Wednesday around 10:40 p.m. Rose and Campbell have been friends since they were children.
Rose, who attended The Citadel Military College of South Carolina, was home on break while pursuing his childhood dream of serving in the military. According to FOX 35, Rose recently became a member of the South Carolina Army National Guard.
Campbell, who’s originally from DeLand, was living with his aunt Karen Chobin in the Chicago area. Chobin said Campbell was in town to mourn the death of his family’s 8-year-old dog, who recently died, and was staying with Rose’s grandparents.
Rose was in DeLand to help Campbell spread his dog’s ashes, Chobin said.

“As he is under 18, the Death Penalty is off the table.”
What a shame.
“However he can get life without possibility of parole.”
Alive to murder again.
I’m so sick of the double standard.
How about turning him loose in an area infested by rabid coyotes?
Another murder by a tarantula head. I’m shocked, shocked I tell you.
One of them again...guess the MSM missed this one too.
Should be first degree and screw Roper v Simmons, fry him in Raiford.
The victims can’t give their version. Dead men can’t.
It’s them, again.
Simplify the situation; rope and a tree.
The hair never lies...
There’s a lot more to this...

Check out Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood’s statement at the end of the article.
The young perp is another known wolf.
When asked why he killed the two white men the 17 year old Blacksuspect replied “they called me a name”.

>> Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood shared the following statement about the arrest.
“You might be interested to know that the 17-year-old arrested in the DeLand double homicide of 2 teenagers has been the recipient of years of second chances, dropped charges, and lack of prosecution in the 9th Judicial Circuit of Orange & Osceola counties.
We’re talking about aggravated battery and assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, multiple counts of battery, criminal mischief, vehicle theft, trespassing, drug possession, another aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, resisting an officer, all dating back to 2021.
Charges that were either dropped, non-filed, dismissed, or, at best, resolved with probation.
Before his latest and worst criminal act, Keyan Rundell was in a diversion program for drug possession and disturbing a school function.
Now two young men are gone forever, and Keyan is facing 2 counts of second-degree murder.
It makes you wonder if our justice system held little Keyan accountable from the start, maybe things would have turned out different.
Guess we’ll never know.”
Liberal judges and juvenile justice protection laws have enabled this monster since 2021 when he was 12 years old!.........................
