Anthony Fauci responds to Aaron Rodgers after NFL star called him a 'coward' in Covid meltdown
The Daily Mail ^ | August 4, 2026 | James Cohen

Former White House chief medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci has hit back at Aaron Rodgers after the quarterback launched a scathing verbal assault on him on-air.

Rodgers, who has long been a vaccine skeptic and was extremely outspoken about the Covid-19 pandemic, didn't hold back as he eviscerated Fauci in the wake of his decision to continuously plead the fifth amendment in a hostile senate hearing.

Appearing on ESPN on Monday, Rodgers attacked Fauci in a 13-minute monologue, labeling the 85-year-old an 'absolute criminal' and an 'absolute coward'.

On Tuesday, Fauci’s attorney, David Schertler, responded to Rodgers delivering a swift shutdown to the veteran quarterback's comments.

'Aaron Rodgers doesn't know what he's talking about,' Schertler told The Athletic on Fauci's behalf. 'He should stick to football.'

The public spat erupted after Fauci invoked his constitutional protection against self-incrimination over 100 times during intense questioning from lawmakers.

Days later, Rodgers appeared on ESPN and gave a scathing assessment on Fauci.

As he arrived on set, Rodgers appeared to ask how long the broadcast had left on ESPN, with McAfee responding that they had 'a hard out' after just eight minutes.

That, seemingly, was all the fuel Rodgers needed as he answered a football-related question by claiming 'I'm going to plead the fifth... like that absolute coward Tony Fauci.'

Apparently Fauci knows so little about what he’s talking about that he took the 5th... 111 times.

That was it? First off, Fauci didn’t say a damn thing. And his lawyer said almost nothing.

The British press is despicable.

Somehow that was Fauci “shutting down” Aaron? Not even close.

Rodgers should just show a clip of fascinating “throwing” out the first pitch and say “if he thinks I’m frightened of THAT, then he doesn’t know me” lol.

I hope enough NFL players and coaches take up the outcry to make games unwatchable for Fauci and his groupies

X was engulfed with leftist “sportwriters” defending Fauci and calling Rodgers all sorts of naughty names all day long. Pathetic.

*** First off, Fauci didn’t say a damn thing.***

I disagree. In his sworn-in opening statement, he admitted that the diary was his.

I truly feel that somehow, somewhere, down the road, the fact that he called it his “diary” means that he will have to perjure himself at some point.

"Fauci responded by pleading the 5th."

I guess there's no limit to pleading the 5th if you're a dem. 100 times? 500? 1,000? 1,000,000.

Comey said, "No reasonable prosecutor" would bring a case against Hillary Clinton for demonstrated (alleged) espionage.

Is there anyone on the planet that put evil people to trial?

Aaron has the First Amendment. Fauci has the Fifth.

If I had to choose a hemp necktie I’m pretty sure I know which one it would be.

But he didn’t speak. In response to Rogers, he took the 5th for the 112th time and let his lawyer give a pathetically weak response.
