A socialist pol who is a shoo-in to represent part of Queens in the state Assembly whipped out his tin cup to beg the public to help pay his personal bills while he waits out the November elections, The Post has learned.
Brian Romero — a former legislative aide hoping to succeed his ex-boss Jessica González-Rojas, who is headed to the State Senate — is already confronting his first self-inflicted budget crisis. The problem isn’t that the rent is too damn high — it’s that he doesn’t have a job to pay it.
He set up a GoFundMe campaign to help pay the bills.
Romero said he had to give up his most recent post as a senior advisor to state Sen. Kristen Gonzalez (D-Queens) in March due to state ethics guidance he received during the campaign.
He won 66% of the vote and easily defeated local activist Rosa Sanchez in June’s Democratic primary.
The Republican Party didn’t field a candidate, giving him a clear path to Albany, where he’ll represent the deep blue 34th District, which includes parts of Jackson Heights and Elmhurst.
But a politician who will have a say in how Albany spends billions in taxpayer money publicly pleading poverty is not a good look, critics said.
Romero said he saved for “months” but is now broke and can’t make the rent.

These clowns are lucky they can take themselves to the bathroom.
Grifter...........
He’s just following that monster Marx.
Yep.
Yup.
Or even get up in the morning.
female Democrats ( AWFULs ) wouldn’t date somebody that couldn’t pay their rent, but they would elect them
Ran out of other people’s money.
Seeking more.
He can’t provide for himself, but he thinks he should run other people’s lives from a position in the government. Sounds reasonable.
get elected and become RICH
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
DO NOT ASSUME THEY CAN DO THAT
Gonzalez-Rojas
Gonzalez
Sanchez
A Republican with a job should enter this race.
Marx at one point had to have his wife sell his last pair of trousers so they could make ends meet. This guy probably has more pairs of pants than Marx did.
Fox is now reporting that, after a backlash, he has taken down the GoFundMe because he will soon be making $142K and per diems in his new gig in Albany. Plus, he has a “partner,” so that person ought to be able to carry him for a while.
We can all sleep well with the knowledge that he won’t have to live on the streets and eat at soup kitchens, and will probably be secure in his new job for life.
Good point.
