Authorities say the killings fit the definition of family annihilation, one of at least eight in the US this year
Authorities in Michigan have identified a man they say fatally shot his wife and six children on Friday in a mass murder that fits the definition of a family annihilation.
Citing autopsy results, the Ottawa county sheriff’s office said in a news release Monday that Kristopher Karolkiewicz; his wife, Amanda; and their six children, aged five to 15, all died of gunshot wounds before their bodies were found in their burning home in Grand Haven Township. The agency noted that Kristopher Karolkiewicz shot himself to death – and said the deaths of Amanda and the children were ruled homicides.
Furthermore, the sheriff’s office said that the fire at the home on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan was evidently set intentionally in multiple parts of the house after the killings, though officials were still investigating the blaze’s point of origin.

Family annihilation, where a person kills multiple family members, takes place in the U.S. about once every five days.
Makes it hard when they closed nut houses and went to prescribing a pill for everything and telling you it is not your fault you killed people you were sick.

It’s weird guys. I worked at Intel with a guy who was doing his job one day, and then went home killed his 3 kids, his wife, set the house and barn on fire, and then killed himself.
He wasn’t “a quiet guy who kept to himself” or anything like that. He was a normal nerd like the rest of us. Intel paid well, he had a good job, and no real chance of getting fired. His home life must have really sucked or something and he just snapped.
You really just never know.
The US’s perennially high numbers of mass shootings have prompted calls from lawmakers and advocates for more substantial federal gun control.
But of course the answer is more gun control: not an examination of the court system that will strip a man of his kids, wife, income and pension for decades nor the economic system that leaves men earning lower wages and with ever more precarious employment.
That's not a justification for this brutality, but the stress is a big part of the cause for actions like this. If you have a system that puts a man already in a weakened mental state looking at a lifetime of indentured servitude, alienation from his children and poverty, you shouldn't be surprised.
This family is about 3/4 of a mile from us. He lost his high paying job with the American Cancer Society in June.

I think she was spending too much money.
The 2 sons were not hurt.
I’m not sure where they were when
it happened.
Men are so much more rational than women.
In some cases it's just plain evil or insanity. But it looks like there are more and more such cases, although I wonder if it's just being reported more.
