Her DNA search results went helter-skelter.
Filmmaker Sophia Maddox broke down in tears when she and her father, Daniel Arguelles, learned from an online ancestry search that his dad was one of America’s most notorious criminals — Charles Manson.
“I was obviously very devastated,” Maddox, 26, exclusively told The Post. She recalled feeling “dumbstruck” and “sobbing.”
“My dad was just rubbing my back and holding me, and telling me we were nothing like him. But it was a little traumatic,” she added.
Co-directed by Maddox and Alexandra Orton, the Hulu documentary, “My Grandfather Charles Manson,” follows Maddox as she looks into Manson’s past, struggles with her fraught relationship with her father, and interviews former Manson family members such as Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme and Manson trial prosecutor Stephen Kay.
Arguelles was born in 1959, when his mother, Darlene, was 17. She met Manson at a bus stop when he was going by the name “Charlie Dear” and the pair had a one-night stand.
Manson — who was convicted of seven counts of first-degree murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder, including the horrific 1969 slaying of the pregnant Sharon Tate — died in prison at 83 in 2017.

Not exactly. He and his “family” were part of a federally funded communal living study, money that ultimately came from spook funds.
This is incidentally, however, undoubtedly why he wasn’t arrested while on Federal parole.
He was running drugs, firearms, stolen cars, pimping underage prostitutes, burglary, association with known felons, etc etc, and kept getting released with no charges. That’s how he was able to do that, apparently.
I started watching it and turned it off.
You’d think she wouldn’t want to bring this kind of attention to herself and her family.
This is what happened to another one of Charles Manson’s children:
“Charles Manson Jr. (also known as Jay White), the eldest son of cult leader Charles Manson, died by suicide on June 29, 1993. He shot himself on a highway in Colorado at age 37, a tragedy his son, Jason Freeman, later attributed to his father’s inability to escape the shame and trauma of his biological father’s legacy.
Identity: Born in 1956 to Manson and Rosalie Jean Willis, he legally changed his name to Jay White to distance himself from his father.”
That was my take in five seconds just from reading the article
People say I’m no good
But they never never do they say
Why their world is so mixed up
Or how it got that way
I will use this example, and many, many others, to convince my grandkids not to have sex before marriage.
Yes, today there are pills to stop it. We barely had that reality in any form.
The purpose of sex is to re-create life. It can happen even the very first time. Your bodies are there for you to use them in that way.
Honor the L*rd with your bodies as a form of praise. Honor your parents. Honor yourselves.
It will go well with you,
It is still illegal to direct others to kill people. Bugliosi had to thread a fine needle, on the one hand it would have made sense for the defense to argue for diminished responsibility by reason of brainwashing or heavy drug use, Manson as hypnotist or whatever.
And Bugliosi also had to keep the “government studies” angle under wraps, and the rich & famous Hollywood cognoscenti didn’t want their associations with dirty hippies publicized either. He obtained convictions, so he had that going for him.
Six degrees of separation from Kevin Bacon…
Far more interesting than a documentary about "My Grandfather Charles Manson" would be a movie "A one night stand with Charles Manson."
Here’s another one: a friend of mine lost his virginity at 17. A one-time/night event in which he contracted genital herpes. This significantly affected his dating life as a young man, and he is now alone at 65 and still has outbreaks.
I believe he lasted 4 days at Boystown with Father Flanagan.
Will Rogers never met him.
One-night stand ??? Even back in 1959 I don't think they referred to rape as a 'one-night stand'... Then again crazy old Charlie Manson had some kind of weird charm. He got all those girls to kill for him and some people are more easily manipulated than others.
That's why we have the Church of Scientology... Because crazy old L. Ron Hubbard managed to create a religion out of whole cloth based on a bar bet. A religion estimated to be worth as much as a 100 billion dollars... And it's all tax-free.
I’m jealous. All I have is James Buchanan and the Light Horse Harry Lee.
People forget that until 1940, for the last 5000 years, Syphilis and Gonorrhea were incurable. Marital fidelity wasn’t designed or intended by Patriarchal stick-in-the-muds it was intended to keep families alive and healthy, among other things.
This country is full of potential “Manson Girls”. Just look at the female membership of Antifa and the DSA.
SEEMS GRANDMA MADE BAD CHOICES, ALSO.
Or worse. Her second husband was her cousin, too. I learned later my grandma and great aunts suspected foul play when #2 died.
Since we’re on the subject, were you aware of the connection between Charles Manson and the Beach Boys? See here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Never_Learn_Not_to_Love
HER
He was such a cheerful guy.
