Fresh produce giant Taylor Farms is preparing to recall ingredients linked to a parasite outbreak that has caused severe diarrhea and sickened thousands of people in Michigan and nearby states, according to a report.
The California-based lettuce supplier told federal regulators that it was preparing a recall tied to the widening cyclospora outbreak, Bloomberg News reported Friday, citing a document viewed by the outlet. The parasite can cause severe diarrhea, fatigue and nausea.
The scope of the recall was not immediately clear.
The move would mark the clearest sign yet of a potential source of the outbreak, which prompted Taco Bell earlier this week to remove some lettuce from restaurants in the Midwest.
Federal health officials on Thursday linked the illnesses to shredded lettuce served at the fast-food chain and pointed to a single supplier.

Yeah, I think raw veggies are off my menu for a while after this one.
I don’t need no steenkin’ salad.
Pickled eggs and beer for the win!
I finished up my Taylor Farms sweet kale salad kit as I read this article.
So far, so good?
There is a long list. I have no idea why Taco Bell was singled out. It shouldn’t have been.
List:McDonald’s, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Taco Bell, Burger King, Subway, Wendy’s, KFC, Pizza Hut, Olive Garden, and Red Lobster, Kroger and Whole Foods.
I am also in Michigan. Many people had the parasite who did not eat at Taco Bell.
Taylor Farms said the salad kits were not an issue. Most Yhe kits are mainly cabbage. Not sure if I would eat them.
Truly informative post. I think Taco Bell should sue for being singled out and their reputation and sales trashed.
Thanks for the post.
YW
I just tossed a head of Iceberg lettuce that I bought for the chickens during the time frame they’re recalling.
Glad I noticed this!

Chickens with explosive diarrhea. I really don’t want to see pictures.
FDA says Taylor Farms had false positive after test pinned ‘explosive diarrhea’ parasite on Taco Bell lettuce supplier
With chickens, I’m pretty sure you couldn’t tell the difference anyway, LOL!
I’m hopping that @#$%^&! raccoon that’s been digging in my garden finds it and takes the whole thing back to her den! That’ll teach her!
