A receipt checker at a Florida Sam’s Club has been accused of letting a man walk out with stolen televisions and other high-end merchandise nearly 50 times — in a con pilfering $58,000 in goods.
Brenda Jacqueline Gayle Archer, 57, manned the door of the wholesale store in Sunrise, Fla., and would rubber-stamp the receipts of Troy Sidney Lawrence, 36, after he bought low-priced items and used the receipt to walk out with high-ticket items, NBC Miami reported, citing arrest records.
Archer, of Lauderhill, and Lawrence, of Sunrise, were arrested Tuesday for the “recurring scheme in which the same male suspect repeatedly exited the store with unpaid merchandise while purchasing only a minimal amount of low-cost items,” the reports said.
The club — located at 13550 West Sunrise Boulevard — earlier this month discovered missing TVs and other items with high price tags, which prompted an internal investigation and a review of six months of surveillance video.
The store uncovered that Lawrence made off with unpaid items on 46 occasions when Archer was assigned to check receipts at the exit of the wholesale club.
But each time she failed to check the items in his cart against his receipt, cops allege.
For example, Lawrence on June 8 paid for a TV wall mount — but brazenly waltzed out with two Samsung TVs, surveillance footage and store purchase records showed.
Sam’s Club alleges the total the pair stole was worth $58,000.

Hors d’oeuvres before the reparations come when the Caribbeaners take over the Senate and House.
Now that this article has exposed the way the scam worked, how many others will try it once or twice?
Nope. Maybe at Walmart, but not Sam's Club or Costco. Those are the rules of membership.
We are a collapsing society.
How did that work? Were the cashiers in on it too?

Self checkout......because everyone is honest, right?
Thanks. Last time I went they didn’t have those.
Imagine that.
once or twice and she would have gotten away with it, but over 40? they catch you
Here’s what I know about scams, grifts and schemes. One can often get away with something once. But if you establish a pattern someone can follow, you’ll be revealed.
The self checkouts are being removed because they figured out how much much theft was going on.
Yeah, no. They can try. People are sheep, and comply. Your stuff is your stuff, not their stuff any longer.
That’s all nonsense anyhow. The issue is these firms cannot handle “loss prevention” because they hire defective people and want to punish the innocent as a result. Try to stay focused on the issue, not minutiae
Fingers crossed the arrest video pops up on YouTube. Very entertaining especially if the perps resist. Could appear on ‘taser Tuesday’.
I inew the race involved reading the headline
Yet they got away with it early FIFTY TIMES! If only they had stopped at #45.
Some powerful inventory and surveillance systems!
J’Qwellen.
Ah, the wacky antics of the Gibsmedats.
Ah Sunrise, Florida...the kingdom of the late great John Lomelo.
I would expect nothing less.
