Navy Blue Angels’ ultra-low flyover causes chaos on Florida beach: 'Thought we were going to be taken out'

A Florida beach erupted into chaos Wednesday when an ultra-low-altitude Blue Angels flyover sent tents, chairs and umbrellas flying into the air — leaving spectators on the shoreline stunned as the jet engines roared just feet above their heads, wild video shows.

The “Breakfast with the Blues” annual flyover — part of the Pensacola Beach Air Show — sent sunbathers into a frenzy as the specialized US Navy jets flew terrifyingly close to the shore — stirring up clouds of sand and sending beach gear airborne, WEAR News reported.

Tents, beach chairs and umbrellas were tossed around by the thrust from the jet’s engines and some of the gear reportedly hit several people, according to videos posted to social media.

The extent of injuries, if any, is unknown at this point.

Despite the chaos, some beachgoers say they will remember the patriotic air display for a long time to come.

The Blue Angels leadership is reviewing the super low flyover.

“The safety of our hometown community, spectators, and our pilots is our highest priority,” a spokesperson for the specialized Navy demonstration group told WEAR News.

“Team leadership is reviewing the circumstances surrounding the maneuver and conducting a thorough safety review to ensure all operations adhere to strict Navy and FAA safety standards,” the statement said.

The Blue Angels have been doing the thrilling flyover at Pensacola Beach for 80 years, according to WEAR News — an annual tradition that draws in large crowds to the shoreline.

The multi-day annual air show sees as many as 250,000 people visit the town each year to catch a glimpse of the action.

The pilot will likely be grounded for violating the "no energy toward the crowd rule".

So cool.
One of my friends dads was a marine pilot during Vietnam and he’s go low and fast over the Old Mission . My friend would time is...nuns and kids scattering. but so loud. Sometimes just a boom, other times a roar.

Other sources have mentioned a female pilot was responsible for the one ultra-low flyover that caused the problem.

If I knew to expect such a low flyover by our Blue Angels,
I for one would LOVE to be there, see it, hear it and feel the power!

That is unfgorgiveable. Right there in the video you can see people’s hair get mussed. Ground all of them and impeach Trump and Hegseth. Now!

C,mon.

It was the best of their (the beachgoers) life and they know it.

” tossed around by the thrust from the jet’s engines”

No, it is the air disruption/displacement of the plane moving through dense air.

One problem with this flyover is that it's not part of an airshow and it's over a public beach where not everyone there came for the show.

The "no energy toward the crowd" rule is per the FAA, not just the Navy.

That pilot is likely done. I suspect it's someone close to retirement.

I remember well those Phantoms coming in as low and as slow as possible and dropping napalm close enough to us where I could feel the heat.

I saw that but didn't see it officially confirmed or denied. I believe there's only one female pilot in the Blue Angels.

Yup - Wash from the wings. Seen and had it done to me several times from low flyers. Work site was an air combat range - lotsa fun watching the crazies.

C-5 generates a HUGE wall.

This is the solo sneak pass. A classic maneuver they have done for years.

Some blue hair got their panties in a bunch and posted this as some egregious event.

You wanna see a low pass? Come to El Centro for their winter practice.

You can joke about lightening up but this wasn't an airshow but a public beach, so not all spectators signed up for such a maneuver.

We might think it's awesome but shaking up people with heart conditions or blowing sand in children's faces is not acceptable.
