Remember when a surprise Will Ferrell cameo was an automatic home run?

Monday night's Home Run Derby suggested those days may be long gone.

Netflix's "marquee" event featured not just the unpopular Elle Duncan, but Ferrell, whose routine quickly became one of the night's most dreaded moments at Citizens Bank.

Add Netflix's audio and crashing issues to the mix, and you've got two very skippable hours of television.

Another example of why we cannot let Obama cronies (Netflix, Amazon) take over everything.

“Will Ferrell bombs during MLB Home Run Derby as baseball fans torch Netflix’s broadcast”. Will’s not seeing the ball well, hitting it hard, must be in a slump.

He looks like someone's grandmother wandering around in the Cracker Barrel Country Store.

Will Farrell is not funny. He never has been. I don’t see what people see in him. If he is in a movie, its an automatic no watch from me.

‘He looks like someone’s grandmother wandering around in a Cracker Barrel Country Store.”

Now, that’s funny!
Every Dog has his day.
There was probably a certain point when Comedy greats
Buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd realized that they were
part of the past entertainment, but not for the present.

I think I see the problem. Ferrell’s routine needed...

Me too. He is not funny and a dolt. Just like Jim Carrey.

I actually used to like Carrey early in his career, but he wore out his welcome quick by the time he played the joker in Batman.

While I liked Robin Williams in the few serious roles he played, in my opinion he stunk as a comic. I am not a fan of the ADD shtick type of comedy.

Talledega Nights is a comedy classic.

The home run derby itself was excellent. The interviews and panels before were embarrassing.

Will Ferrell as Mugatu in 'Zoolander' may never be topped.

I agree. Couldn’t stand him or Chevy Chase.

They should have got Charlie Sheen. In spite of everything else he may be, he actually is a pretty good ball player and was offered a baseball scholarship to University of Kansas, IIRC

Talledega Nights might be the only movie with him as the lead role that was above moderately good.

Although I will have to admit that I haven’t seen much of his repertoire.

Will Farrell just isn’t a likable sympathetic protagonist, in my opinion.

He was great in Oldschool, but his “Frank the Tank” character was not the main protagonist, and his annoying shouting physical comedy actually worked great in the supporting role. Luke Wilson was the sympathetic character, just like he was in Idiocracy. Luke’s situations are funny because of all the bad stuff that happens to him, but you like him and want him to prevail.

The only other exception I give is Ron Burgundy. But again, as annoying yet funny as his character was, it wasn’t a sympathetic protagonist and his supporting cast made the movies better.

Step Brother was horrible. It had funny parts, but they were terrible people and I didn’t like his nor John C Riley’s characters and was rooting against them the whole time. They never grew on me. No supporting cast to save him. Mary Steenburgen? Womp!

Carey was absolutely hilarious on TV, but never once funny in a movie. He is not the first to miss the transition from small screen to big screen.

He needs to stick with impersonating the Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer.
