Happy birthday FR!
It joined just after, I think in 1997 or 1998.

No, I can’t imagine.
I can’t tell you how many websites I’ve seen that are now completely unusable because it was felt necessary to “upgrade” over the years. This is largely a text based website.
Without any advertising here at FR. How complicated does that need to be? For my part the website looks familiar, like an old friend. It doesn’t require massive resources to load up, Java script, nor does it try to hijack my browser and load pop-up videos. It’s very quick, and especially noticeable in sketchy connections in remote areas. See where I’m goin’ with that?
It just works

I can’t even remember how I found this site in 1998. I never understood all the interest there was in Drudge. I can here to get the real news. I’ve known since High School the media was slanted Left .

I’ve been on 18, wow! Was caught in a sweeping ban in 2012, but rejoined and here I am.

Matt Drudge 1st reported Clinton-Lewinski on Jan 17, 1998. Yes, I know the date. I found FR within a month of that date either through his website or Trixie Goldberg. Exciting times.

Greetings, fellow member of the Class of '98!
It's been a helluva ride since then ... but the members of FR keep things in perspective (perhaps not always, but that's when the real fun begins!)
Cheers!

Fire hadn’t been invented yet!................... So that's yet another accomplishment of FR. The flaming here inspired the invention of fire.

Here since 1998. I was in New York on 9/11, and Freerepublic was about the only Web site working that morning, and it kept me updated.

You’ll be beat by one year. I’m at 21 years. I can’t believe for Republic was nine years old. When I joined. I’m grateful for the guy that gave me the recommendation. I had never heard of it before. We were stationed Korea. And now I have over 71,000 posts. That’s pretty incredible. I know many have many more but I’m still amazed.

FR is great. I heard about it from a called on the George Putnam radio show. I did not understand FR’s repulsion toward Mitt Romney in 2008, but now I understand it. I agree with a FR person who said that Huckabee’s campaign in 2016 gave us 0bama.
