Massive bull bison tosses Yellowstone tourist into the air like a ragdoll in shocking attack

A massive bull bison tossed a tourist into the air, seriously injuring him, in a heart-pounding caught-on-camera attack at Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming.

Video shows the unidentified man being thrown 8 feet in the air like a ragdoll by the wild bison at the Bridge Bay Campground Friday, Cowboy State Daily reported.

The tourist was walking with his grandson when the powerful herbivore attacked.

Video shows the man running around a copse of pines to try to escape the bull, which was giving itself a dust bath moments earlier.

The bison suddenly charged the two tourists, and then viciously head-butted the older bearded man — catapulting him into the air.

The guy doing the audio has a red dot on his forehead; does that mean the coffee is ready?

No more of an idiot than any other tourist who goes near danger for the experience.

Then again, it’s a risk to go into most major inner cities or to drive on the freeway.

I don’t call people idiots for taking such risks, but being in my mid-70s, I do feel I’m being smart to avoid them.

“In Texas, we call “tourists” like this idiot
a rodeo clown.”

Isn’t that an insult to rodeo clowns?
I have a great respect for rodeo clowns.

Imagine what it was like when millions of the beasts roamed freely and injuns hunted them.

First hunt: “Let’s surround them and stab with spears.”

Second hunt: “Okay , this time shot with arrows.”

“Let us remember our brave warriors, BrokenSpine and RunSlow. This time we scare buffalo over cliff.

I think the truck actually triggered the attack. The Bison didn’t jump up until the truck came into frame and it headed toward the truck initially, then went after the old guy and the kid. The guy and the kid he was near were a good 100 feet away initially. They weren’t danger-close until the Bison charged the truck.

I do also. People shouldn’t try this outside a rodeo arena.

LOL!

I admire people who bravely face danger out of necessity - hunting for food, self-defense, etc.. but I do have to admit I think a lot of the thrill-seeking stuff is just plain stupid.

My son does rock climbing, and although I know he’s a very smart guy, and would never suggest otherwise - I do consider myself very smart for not doing it - and not skydiving - and not doing a lot of things other people do.

And, when I drive down 95 to pick up or drop off someone at the Philadelphia airport - I feel stupid. All it takes is one person and one split second of carelessness - and with all those two-ton vehicles going 70 mph - terrible things happen - there has to be a better way.

Oh well..

I can’t believe how many here are blaming him. He’s was a good distance away being mostly unobtrusive , that dam bull just decided to go kill him.

Someone said that dust bath indicated it was going in rut.

I've seen bison on TV. It never gave me an urge to visit with them. Fuddruckers has bison burgers. That's the way I want to enjoy bison.

Don’t know why “Third hunt:” fell off the rails but the rest was still there.

Used to rock climb and hang glide. Weird how as one ages the need for adrenaline highs abates. No longer date women half my age anymore. (The most dangerous game).

Even the back roads are deadly. Jessica Savitch crashed into the Delaware river canal at New Hope and died.

#46: "I really think it was that silly beard."

100% agree. Typical beardo. Nature Boi thought he was the bison whisperer. Dumb ass should
have climbed a tree. I bet Nature Boi still has a Gore/Lieberman sticker on the bumper. Now his
"partner" can transfer it to beardo's casket.

The bison has probably been aimed at many times before and doesn’t know the diff between a Hasselblad and a Smith & Wesson.

Wrong.

If he had been "aimed at" even once he would be dead.

It was just a wild animal acting like a wild animal. They are not exactly rational creatures.

Yeah. If the outcome is measured in hang time, it’s probably not going to end well.

I don’t disagree with you. I was simply pointing out he did not do the usual idiotic things people do when they believe Disney has the final say on wild animal behavior.

The article read that the bison came into a camping ground. Which to me would be a signal to make myself scarce. That might have given some there a false sense of safety. A belief if we just leave it alone everything will be o.k. Personally I would be trying to figure which way Nebraska was.

Looks can be deceiving. King Arthur said the same thing about a bunny rabbit one time.
